Judge Rules Against Kari Lake, Will Consider Punishment for Bringing Case

Associated Press

A judge has thrown out Republican Kari Lake’s challenge of her defeat in the Arizona governor’s race to Democrat Katie Hobbs, rejecting her claim that problems with ballot printers at some polling places on Election Day were the result of intentional misconduct.

In a decision Saturday, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson, who was appointed by then-Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, found that the court did not find clear and convincing evidence of the widespread misconduct that Lake had alleged had affected the result of the 2022 general election.

The judge said Lake’s witnesses didn’t have any personal knowledge of intentional misconduct.

“The Court cannot accept speculation or conjecture in place of clear and convincing evidence,” Thompson said. More

  1. “knowledge of intentional misconduct.”

WTF does whether it was intentional or unintentional have to do with it? Looked pretty damn clear cut to me. When the blood starts to flow this judge needs to be held accountable. He just disenfranchised about 70 percent of the Maricopa County electorate. It sounds to me like someone got to him. This is such bull shit. The thing is, they’re not afraid of us. And they should be.

  2. I was once called for jury duty and was being questioned by the prosecutor. He asked if circumstantial evidence was good enough for a conviction. I said that definitive evidence was better. I was dismissed because I did not think that circumstantial Evie Denice was just as solid as hard proof.

And the judge is thinking of punishing Lake because she brought a suit based on circumstantial evidence? Good luck with the criminal Justice system if prosecutors are held to the same standard.

Note: I did not say that circumstantial evidence was no good; I said it was not AS good.

Why does a song by Max Frost and the Troopers from 1968 keep going through my head?

How do Democrats who don’t do much campaigning and barely draw a crowd when they do keep winning elections? I think we all know the answer to that.

  3. Judge them by what they DO. This judge revealed his mendacity. And to make the point that a re-pube-lickan appointed him means less than shit to me; it’s a UNI-party and we schlubs are not invited, that’s the point.

These midterm elections proved beyond a doubt that elections don’t mean jack. Seeing how badly life has been crushed these last 2 years, it is impossible to believe that the majority of voters would ask for more.
