Forget Food Deserts, Chicago Should Be a Desert- Period

Walmart closing 4 Chicago stores, blaming millions in annual losses.

Fox-

Walmart has announced Tuesday that it is closing four of its Chicago stores because they are part of a group of locations that “lose tens of millions of dollars a year.”

The retail giant says the Chatham Supercenter, the Walmart Health center, and the Walmart Academy at 8431 S. Stewart Ave., the Kenwood Neighborhood Market at 4720 S. Cottage Grove Ave., the Lakeview Neighborhood Market at 2844 N. Broadway St. and the Little Village Neighborhood Market at 2551 W. Cermak Road will shutter this upcoming Sunday.

“The simplest explanation is that collectively our Chicago stores have not been profitable since we opened the first one nearly 17 years ago — these stores lose tens of millions of dollars a year, and their annual losses nearly doubled in just the last five years,” Walmart said in a statement.

“The remaining four Chicago stores continue to face the same business difficulties, but we think this decision gives us the best chance to help keep them open and serving the community,” it added.

  1. Just looked it up on Street View. Doesn’t appear to be THAT bad of a neighborhood. We have a market place store close buy — strictly a grocery store, not a Supercenter.” There is an O’Reilly’s across the street. I wonder how they are doing.

Did not read the whole article as I did not want to shut off my ad blocker for a one-time read.

  2. Rainy Portland OR and Seattle are destined to be deserts too with their crazy stupid lefttarded policies.

The dummies will keep voting the same way no matter how bad it gets. I don’t think it’ll ever change. Meaning-some decisions will need to be made. Stay or Idaho. 🤔

  3. That’s an incredible amount of theft going on, and the thieves don’t give a damn about anyone but themselves. When the looting starts it looks like a giant street party. Random traffic will pull over to run into a liquor or jewelry store for a little quick burgling. It’s just a big joke to them.

  4. How sad that Walmart can’t say what is clearly their reason for closing,”The locals are stealing us blind and those no good lazy cops and that crocked DA won’t do their jobs.”

I have often thought that if all the merchants got together and spoke with one voice; Walmart, CVS, Rite-Aid, Safeway, Kroger, Sams, Costco,”The criminal environment you have fostered has made our continued existence here untenable, either do something about the shoplifting or we are outta here”, delivered to the city council, that it just might get their attention.

  5. Where are Obama sons gonna do their Christmas shoplifting? America needs a Japanese-Korean-English??? style grocery store where shoppers stand in front of a monitor, select their items, pay, then wait for their food to be delivered on a conveyor. Because prices would be slashed and shoplifting would be impossible, watch for the democrats to outlaw this concept.

I’d invite you to NorCal. It FEELS pretty free here. And we have no crime problem. But we are still subject to insane taxes created by the SoCal Libtard machine.
As far as rain it suddenly stopped last week. They were still forecasting rain, but sooner or later summer gets here. Now my backs sunburned from weekend weed control. You can hear them growing.

  7. Local black leaders will have a community town hall meeting to discuss what can be done. A chimp-out will occur and they will all kill each other in a hail of bullets. The Democrats will blame Trump, the Second Amendment and white privilege for the carnage.

I’m not sure what to do. I know I’ve whined about this before. Love my house…and as long as I never go anywhere or listen to local news…things are great!

Every day the state legislature passed crazy sh*t and the crazy will continue. The nice small town near me is being invaded by transplants from SanFran. They pop up on Next Door all they time. Just the tone of their posts make me roll my eyes…

Locusts. Just like Rush used to say.

Things here won’t improve, maybe ever.

(My MIL’s best friend moved to northern CA last year. They are in a pocket of sanity. Still…it’s CA! 😆 (sorry!)

  9. “We have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the city…”

So now that Walmart finally wised-up, and won’t be flushing cash down the Chicago toilet, will they be lowering prices?

  10. No one will say the truth from a large, exposed to government and media position. They believe the numbers say keep quiet. If a large government and media exposed corporation told the unvarnished truth about the situation there would be subdued cheering across the country along with government, media and activist shrieking. Even normal people are cowed by the race grievance complex aggression we experience. We don’t like it but don’t want to be called names by people with megaphones.

Think about it, we allow feral, criminal humans to ruin our whole system because we don’t want to be called names. It’s a disgrace to us, by us. The public enemy is the public enemy wherever he is and whatever color his outer covering might be.
