I thought the Brits freed all their own slaves over 100 years ago, even before the US (un)Civil War, IIRC. Was Jamaica somehow overlooked?
And yet these professional race baiters, agitators and indoctrinators want an apology?
For what? Being freed? For not being left back in their native Africa to be enslaved and killed by a neighboring tribe? Maybe these slaves would like to go back the the “mother land” and find the Arabs and tribes that captured their ancestors in the first place and demand an apology from them? (now that would be fun to watch)
If I were King Charles (shudder….), I’d accept the Jamaican petition, and grant their request to became a republic. Apology and reparation for slavery denied (because….history). Request to become a republic, granted immediately. With all aid and money from the Crown cut off just as immediately.

I applaud their wanting to disassociate with the pompous ass Charles. Have had discussions that the British were better at establishing central western-style governmemts than the French, hence the disparity between Jamaica and Haiti. The continued presence/influence of Britain may be a hole in that argument. Time will tell, but look for civil war there in five years time.
Oh well, Jamaica goes to hell. Look for a mass illegal rush into the US by Jamaicans.
I agree with all of the comments (although I think you all are giving King Charles III a bad rap). Jamaica can join the club of useless black states such as Zimbabwe, Zambia, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Ghana, the list is endless. The government of South Africa has been run by blacks now for 30+ years. They admit that they will not kill white people “yet” as they need them to farm and run the electrical grid.
England should do the same.
