On This Day 60 years ago: President John F. Kennedy Was Assassinated in Dallas

I believe Oswald was the lone gunman.

But if you feel otherwise that is perfectly fine.

  1. I was 8 years old in the fourth grade in Pasadena CA.

Let me share my theory as it appeared to me at the time. It was very early morning when they made the announcement. Not knowing of time zones I figured someone had crawled through JFKs bedroom window and shot him.

I might have gotten that totally wrong.

  2. There are so many speculative stories out there it is hard to know what really happened, but one thing is for sure, the FBI is corrupt as Hell. Itz only a question of WHEN they went to the Dark side!

  3. America started to change for the worse the day JFK was assassinated. It was a watershed moment in our nation’s history that changed the outcome of what we’ve become since then. I still remember it as it was yesterday even though I was 10 and in 5th grade at the time.

  4. I looked through a book that was pretty convincing on how Oswald did it alone (the book was probably pushing 1000 pages so I couldn’t plow through the whole thing.

It had a section about all of the people involved who supposedly died mysteriously. Some people on that list were people who died in the ‘70’s over 20 years later, I think there was a bus driver who drove the bus that took somebody to work, etc. The list included people who logic would indicate would not have been what we call Arkancided.

The book also had a pretty good rational about how Jack Ruby would not have been involved in a plot to “silence” Oswald. It was sheer luck that Ruby even managed to find his way down into the garage to shoot Oswald.

It has been over thirty years so my memory is pretty fuzzy, but the book was pretty thorough. Some of the things I skipped were things such as Oswald’s life story. I think I read just about everything specifically associated with the assassination.

Just as an aside, my brothers and I used to read books about such things as the Bermuda Triangle. We used to joke about one author who wrote a lot trying to prove such things were true. We used to call him Charles “Anything’s a Mystery If You Ignore Half The Facts” Berlitz. The same applies to the Kennedy assassination.

An interesting historical tidbit: the Kennedy motorcade would have driven right by the place Oswald was gong to be taken (had he not been shot) just before it made the left turn onto Elm Street and the Texas Schoolbook Depository.

  5. You will NEVER know the whole truth about JFK
until you go to Heaven and then the Angels will
tell you the WHOLE story….. Don’t worry, you got
    plenty time…..

  6. If you really want to go down the rabbit hole, go to America’s Untold Stories on YT. Lots of interesting little tidbits on all the people involved. In my opinion Oswald was probably set up by the CIA to take the fall. But we will never know. All the info was supposed to be declassified years ago, so why is it still buried? The only reason is to protect the deep state.

  7. No way Oswald did it himself. Oswald was under CIA contract and was fingered for being the shooter. JFK had two bullets to the head. The back of the head was blown out according to the x-rays and doctors contrary to the reports. This was never released and there are still video’s of the doctors stating this. Don’t bother with youtube because they have repeatedly deleted the interviews. As attorney general Bobby Kennedy was going after the mobs bigtime, he was under the protection of President JFK. Most people did not understand that the CIA is funded basically under Presidential signature. Bobby stirred up so much shit that the CIA got scared going after the mobs because that was a bigger source of income and the only way to shut him down was to take out JFK. Basically, Bobby resigned immediately, the mobs were pointed to, Oswald was fingered and the CIA got all the funding they wanted.
Many of the girls in my class at school started crying

  8. I have seen the video footage and seen the sight. The trajectory of the bullet that took off the back of Kennedy’s head had to come from the grassy knoll. The first headshot could have come from the book repository.

  9. The book RadioMattM was referring to is Case Closed by Gerald Posner. The research appears very exhaustive, and the book is heavily footnoted with Posner’s sources. Posner spends several hundred pages detailing Oswald’s life, which given Oswald’s background was a lot of work.

The conclusion is that Oswald acted alone. Posner does refer to some of the conspiracy theories, and what I found interesting is that most of the conspiracy theorists discount and deride Jim Garrison’s efforts to convict Clay Shaw, a New Orleans business man, as the mastermind behind Kennedy’s assassination. Oliver Stone later used this particular conspiracy theory upon which he based “JFK,” a film with so many holes it was ridiculous.

I tried to poke holes in Posner’s work, but he makes the most sense. And I find Posner’s explanation as to why there are so many conspiracy theories – Oswald, a nobody, killed Kennedy, the most powerful man in the world, and these scales do not balance so people are searching for a better reason.

  10. Our ‘government’ is FUCKED, and has been for a LONG time.

The real question is; can we take back our government that is ‘of the people, by the people, for the people ?????????

    If not…..it’s over.

  11. Yes he was in one of the most hilarious events in all of history
Who couldn’t laugh hystericaly as the caissons kept rolling along
as a bugler fucked up the notes
as Lyndon Johnson pretended to be sad
One of the most hilarious moments in all human history
And still pretended to this day to be so sad
Without the least bit of emotion
Because there never was any sadness

  12. listening to Chris Plante on the radio Monday morning (he’s much better on radio than the ‘handcuffs’ Newsmax has him under) & he was talking about the records still being sealed despite the Congressional JFK Assassination Record Collections Act of 1992!

…. every president since Clinton has notunsealed the records … although congress mandated that they do so!

P.S. Biden did release some documents, but nothing important, just false rumors, etc.
(you got a year or two to plow through, the link is here: https://www.archives.gov/research/jfk/release2021 )

… & I’ll add my voice to highly recommend ‘Case Closed’ to anyone interested in the JFK assassination …. best researched book I’ve read about it …. including the ‘Warren Report’

  13. This my favorite season of the year. It’s Kennedy Assassination Week! Dozens of old documentaries on YouTube that haven’t been seen in decades; lots of Talking Heads opining about conspiracies on television who have never read any of the books that point to Lee Harvey Oswald being the sole assassin; and plenty of people ready to argue with anyone who points out that the FBI, CIA, NSA, KGB, GRU, the Castros, the Mafia, the Military Industrial Complex, and H.L. Hunt and his Texas Right Wingers sure found some very tight mouthed conspirators to kill President Kennedy. Just think how much money anyone who actually knew one of the Assassins could make coming forward with proof that someone they knew really conspired to kill JFK in Dallas, Texas. Does anyone seriously believe that this secret could be contained for all these years without a relative, a wife or a mistress coming forward to cash in with a book deal or a movie contract?

Just this morning on Mourning Joe, Rob “Meathead” Reiner told the dolts on MSNBC that he was working on a documentary on the Kennedy Assassination that would prove he was killed by a vast Right Wing Conspiracy. I can’t wait.

At the risk of upsetting those who believe Oswald couldn’t have shot Kennedy from the sixth floor of the School Book Depository, I recommend that open minded people watch Max Holland’s “From Rorschach Test to Time Clock: the Zapruder Film.” on YouTube. It solves the problem of Oswald’s ability to get three shots off in the time that was indicated by Zapruder’s film.

  14. Count me among those who remember the moment I learned he was killed.

6 years old and at-bat in my neighbor’s front yard. It stopped the game completely.

I think trauma cements memorable times for us. Be it physical or mental trauma.

  15. As for Oswald, I am reminded of him and his deed at least every three months when I service an apartment complex across the street from the house he lived in where the infamous photo was taken of him posing in his backyard.

Quite an unassuming structure you wouldn’t guess was a part of history if you didn’t know already. I’d be happy to provide a current photo if anyone wants it. Truly a boring looking structure on it’s own.

  16. Remember the day well – most of the grownups thought the Russkies were coming and made everyone “shelter in place.”

As for the conspiracy I love Steven Hunter’s book (thanks FJB @8:16pm) to get a good discussion going BUT I always fingered Woody Harrelson’s dad as the 2nd shooter.

  17. I think the CIA thing is really thin gruel and there’s a case to be made for Oswald being the only one (he was an expert with that weapon).

    However,

the idea Oswald was set up is not beyond the realm of possibility and the more likely idea that it was the Russians is even more more likely if you remember that Jack Kennedy was something of a fool who thought he really was James Bond (the womanizing part, especially) and rode the coattail of the Eisenhower years.

Yeah, the Lefties made their move after that, but it wasn’t because he was such a great leader. More like ol’ Lynnon bird wanted to be the next Franklin Roosevelt.

  18. I gotta say, if you actually believe in the Lone Gunman theory (which is apparently the only way American Presidents get killed), you haven’t paid attention. Let’s see, there was the Black Death (COVID), weapons of mass destruction, involvement in wars we had no business in because they were profitable, your government turned over the creation of your currency to private banks with the Federal Reserve Act, and Northern financial interests started a war to conquer the South, which you were told was to “preserve the union” (which of course was voluntary) and to end slavery (it never was). Oh yeah, there was the magic bullet and the Warren Commission. What a fool believes. It all hinges on your belief that you belong to the “good guys”. You don’t. If you actually believe anything the government or media says, you are the problem.

  19. One of the most humorist moments in human history
as provided how only the Kennedys can
Maybe Sinatra and Jack could joke with
Sam Giancana about fucking Phyllis McGuire
Even more hilarious was the party hosted by Clint Murchinson
on the eve of the assassination
    and who the guests were.
