That’s not the smell of fear I smell. It’s the smell of a bomb.
Pamela Anderson will be stepping into the role that Priscilla Presley played.
Now, all we need is OJ’s replacement.
How about Hunter Biden? He gets away with murder.

Shouldn’t attempt a reboot of a classic.
Nowadays, it’s “Nice Beaver!”
“Thanks, I just got the stitches removed!”
Liam Neesan was actually pretty funny in the movie Gun Shy, a movie from the year 2000. Oliver Platt’s mafia character in it was hilarious.
The reboot won’t be the same without OJ’s corpse getting tossed about.
Liam Neeson CAN do comedy, it’s just that it’s not his natural element. And of course, this reboot will flop spectacularly.
Nope, ain’t gonna work. Rarely does a remake even equal the original. Can’t see it being anywhere near as funny as the first movies. Nielsen was a RIOT, as was the rest of the cast. ;^)
Alfonso Ribeiro (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) replaces O.J.
Liam Neeson is no Leslie Nielson. Leave well enough alone, we don’t need a Naked Gun reboot. It’d be as bad or worse when Steve Martin attempted to impersonate Peter Sellers classically funny inspector Closeau in a reboot of the Pink Panther, it just wasn’t as funny.
Throwing in my 2 cents on the line of “the personal is political”, after Liam Neeson made his statement about “all guns should be taken away from the citizens (not an exact quite), I refuse to add to the paycheck of a person who wants to take away my gunz, while making movies using gunz.
Probably full of woke crap.
Why the hell can’t hollyweird make anything new?
And they wonder why they’re broke.
^^^^ President Elect Toxic Deplorable ^^^^YUP!
One of my favorite comedy series ever is Derry Girls. Neeson had a role in a couple of episodes and was great.
Hollywood no longer creates but duplicates. Even with television it’s singing programs, dating bullcrap or some alphabet police show. Frikken boring. Thank goodness I can find nostalgic channels that show programs from before the 80’s when you were still entertained.
You can’t do 90% of the jokes, gags, and puns that were in the original in The Current Year.
Part of the humor in Airplane was having dramatic actors such as Leslie Nielson, Robert Stack, and Peter Graves play in a comedy. The Naked Gun series continued this practice of using dramatic actors in comedic roles, and Liam Neeson fits this mold, so I’ll reserve judgment until the film comes out.
If the movie bombs, I believe the problem will be with the writers and not Neeson. ZAZ crammed a lot of humor into the Naked Gun films, and audiences will likely be expecting this format – but not necessarily from Neeson. Nielson played Frank Drebin fairly straight albeit clueless, and this is a large part of what made these films hilarious.
I went to the guy’s channel to see if my hunch was correct about this being a comedic parody and enjoyed that aspect. Then I did an internet search, holding onto my original entertainment appreciation. In this case the reality of an an actual “movie” is just too difficult to appreciate. 😆😆
Wyatt, Insensitive Progressive Jerk
Great summary. The original will remain my favorite for the same reasons you listed, but I am less positive about any remakes. Still, it was nice to read your balance for the 2025 version.
I hope this and all other remakes fail spectacularly until Hollywood figures out movie goers want new stories.
My guess is that the movie is going to come out more like “Tranny Gun”.
“And don’t call me Shirley!”
You are guaranteed to be disappointed if not disgusted.
I am sure they will manage to insert some woke garbage in it, if not bring some “diverse” actors too.
You cannot easily replace Leslie Nelson.
Steve Martin was not “not as funny” as Sellers’ Clouseau. He was painfully unfunny.
If you like watching old westerns Leslie Nielsen is prolific in them. Always played the heavy. I read an account about a guessed appearance he wants made on Bonanza and filming took almost twice as long as it should have because Nielsen had the entire crew laughing all the time. A born comedian.

There is nothing new under the Sun…. I believe there are four stories, something akin to, man against man, man against nature, man against God, and something else …. It takes expertise that is undoubtedly long gone to create a NEW interesting story…

In all honesty, prior to Airplane, Leslie Nielson was best known as a dramatic actor – see Forbidden Planet and the original Poseidon Adventure.
