If violent crime is at a nearly 50 year low and Americans are much safer now, then why do liberals want to take away guns from law abiding citizens? (Felons are not permitted to own or have guns under existing laws). We are apparently so safe under the Biden administration that law abiding citizens will not use their guns to commit crimes or deter criminals, and would-be criminals have seemingly gone straight.
Incidentally, statistically you were not safer in 1974. From the 70s until sometime in the 2000s, violent crime fell about 40%, although I think if the same metrics were used now, crime is on the rise again. Of course, we can’t count illegal immigration because we don’t enforce those laws, nor is shop lifting less than $950 at a time an arrestable offense.
On the other hand, ignoring facts is very convenient. My doctor has been on my ass to lose weight; I just tell him that the last extra 30 pounds the scales show don’t count because calling me obese is just body shaming and he needs to ignore that.
Crime IS NOT down, they just quit reporting it.

The reason crime appears to be down is because the New York Police Department, Chicago Police Department, Los Angles Police Department along with others have stopped reporting their crime statistics to the FBI.
In total 37% of police departments have ceased to report crime to the FBI, and it is the FBI statistics that the Lyin’ Joe Biden admiration is citing as evidence of a reduction in crime.
Since NY, Chicago, and LA account for more than 50% of all the violent crime in this country, not reporting their crime lowers the overall rate by exactly the false reduction cited by the White House.
Typical leftist tactic; change a word, or a reporting standard, and them pretend they fixed the problem.
