MN Dems Deny Quorum to Republicans Who Hold the State House

Democrats in Minnesota’s state House staged a boycott on Tuesday, walking out and not showing up for the first day of the legislative session in defiance over how the chamber will be divided.

When the state Legislature convened Tuesday but Democrats failed to show up, Republicans vowed to push forward with the session, although questions remain if they have legal authority to do so without quorum, Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) reported.

The House has been thrust into a political quarrel after voters elected 67 Democrats and 67 Republicans in November. More

  1. Gotta be honest, if the situation were reversed I would want GOP to do the same.
    They were dead even in numbers, then one Dem got dropped but there will be an election for her seat, at which point they will likely be dead even again. I would fight too.
    As I often say when a sportsball team loses a close game on a last-minute score, if they were the better team they should have been far enough ahead that one more score wouldn’t matter.

  2. Bunch of Wimps. I hope no conservatives ever do things like that. I see no excuse for pulling a stunt like that, not even to retaliate.

    Being a representative of the people is a job. Be an adult – a difficult thing apparently for democraps and liberals. Show up or get lost.
