Shutting Down The Department Of Education: Linda McMahon Lays Out The ‘Final Mission’

McMahon is officially setting in motion the end of the agency, after it has already cut many of its left-wing programs.

Federalist-
Education Secretary Linda McMahon laid out the “final mission” for the Department of Education, initiating President Donald Trump’s goal to “send education back to the states” and shut down the federal agency.

In one of her first official acts as Education Secretary, immediately after her successful Monday confirmation vote in the Senate, McMahon sent a speech to department staff titled “Our Department’s Final Mission.” The speech detailed several benchmarks necessary to fulfilling the decades-long goal of conservatives to end the bureaucratic thwarting of the American education system.

“After President Trump’s inauguration last month, he steadily signed a slate of executive orders to keep his promises: combatting critical race theory, DEI, gender ideology, discrimination in admissions, promoting school choice for every child, and restoring patriotic education and civics,” McMahon said. “He has also been focused on eliminating waste, red tape, and harmful programs in the federal government. The Department of Education’s role in this new era of accountability is to restore the rightful role of state oversight in education and to end the overreach from Washington.” more

  1. Public education¹ has failed. As it should have as it is an inherently flawed concept. It matters not whether it is organized as a federal, state, or even as a municipal matter.

    1. Ugly and deceitful name. If parents can be blocked from knowing what the ‘schools’ are doing to their kids, it isn’t ‘public.’ And if high school seniors are graduated without being able to read, write, or perform basic arithmetic, is isn’t ‘education.’

  2. I’m not trying to hijack a post…well… maybe I am. A YouTube person who’s channel was one of my faves was taken off life support yesterday. Andrew Cross. He went by the name of Desert Drifter. This all happened on Jan 31 2025 when a drunk driver slammed into his car while stopped at a stop light. We were all so hopeful that he’d pull through. I feel so bad for his wife and family.

Just thought I’d mention it incase someone else here watched his content and might have been following the story and updates. So sad. https://www.youtube.com/@Desert.Drifter/videos

Thanks for allowing me to post this.

  3. Was fortunate to not have to deal with the insanity when my kids were in school.
It would have been dealt with in a medieval manner had that shit been going on.
Always despised the school system, it was/is a bad joke that turned into an evil entity.

  4. From a purely fiscal position, I would support any action to reduce or eliminate whole governmental departments, including the DEA.

But rightfully sending education back to the states will not kill CRT, DEI, gender ideology, discrimination with admissions, or any other perversion hatched by the left. Blue states will continue to brainwash and indoctrinate like they always have. Sure, this is more in keeping with the Tenth Amendment but it is no magic bullet. Students in those states will still be dumber than dirt, still harbor hostility and rancor for both religion and the country, still lack critical thinking skills, and will still rely too much on the government for safety and their well-being.

True enough, however, if things are going to change it will because of pressure exerted by pissed off parents. Parents have no voice or power right now because policy is established at the federal level. I also don’t think it will end up at the state level as far as Libtard or normal. Rather at the county level.

  6. “Rather at the county level.”

This would be preferable. Counties, like where you reside, could get back to the basics, to educate and prepare students to navigate the world and compete (and win), but my county, as blue as you can get, embraces leftist ideology and all its trappings. They do not teach HOW to think, these teach WHAT to think. Their focus is not on the student but on the system, perpetuating the system whereby impressionable students become impressionable adults, embracing moral ambiguity and dependence on authority which is unhealthy and restricting.

I also think this process will take a while. School districts need to feel the pressure and start weeding out the whack job liberal teachers. Curriculum might be changed rather quickly, but you will still have these toxic brain dead libtards inter phasing with your kids. I swear I can spot them a mile away.

  8. Think you’ve seen the democrats lose their shit before? They are owned by the teachers’ unions and they are tasked with turning out students so functionally illiterate that they’ll swallow the lies fed to them by the legacy media.
