DCNF:
House Republicans’ proposal to impose work requirements on Medicaid would force millions of Americans to meet new eligibility conditions or lose coverage, the Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.
At least 3.5 million individuals will be removed from Medicaid rolls due to House Republicans’ proposal to require most able-bodied Americans to work, volunteer or be in school for at least 20 hours a week to qualify for the entitlement program, according to a source familiar with an estimate from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office that could be released as early as Friday. GOP lawmakers have justified the imposition of work requirements among other reforms to Medicaid by arguing that the entitlement program should prioritize Americans who need coverage the most, not able-bodied adults or illegal migrants.
“We are protecting Medicaid for the people who need and deserve it,” Speaker Mike Johnson said Tuesday at the House GOP leadership press conference. “This program is an essential lifeline for our most vulnerable Americans: pregnant women, single mothers, low-income seniors, the disabled. That’s who Medicaid is intended to be for and that’s who we’re protecting while we’re eliminating fraud, waste and abuse.” more
Make it so
Good. What’s the old saying…”beggars can’t be choosers.”
Scrubbing the public rest rooms at govt buildings would be good. And then there’s hospital charity ward bedpan washing.
“How I gonna feed muh keeeeds?!!!”
All those opposed should have to standby at the grocery store and watch drug addicts whip out a hand full of EBT cards. Or watch an obviously wealthy Russian couple whip out EBT cards while dressed like Hollywood and driving off in a customized Cadillac Escalade. Young Obama sons selling EBT cards in the parking lot isn’t exactly heartwarming either.
Related, having to do with fraud involving Maine Care. the name used for Medicaid in Maine:

I dont like this idea because I lived through it before. I dont remember if it was State or Federal level, but somewhere in the late ’90s they told everyone in OH they had to work some small number of hours to get CASH benefits, and provided prison busses for transportation from job centers. My employer jumped on it because it was HEAVILY subsidized labor, but came to regret it.
See, these folks were NOT happy to be FORCED to work, most were multi-generational Welfare recipients with zero skills or work ethic, were not interested in learning anything, were not concerned with discipline, brought their ‘hood habits – ALL of them – with them, and were pissed to be there at ALL and let it show in their ‘work’.
They were literally unmanageable, in that they could not be managed. Everything was herding cats except they were MUCH larger and stronger and more casually violent than cats. The company kinda gave up when one of them sprayed a manager with a Strahman steam/water hose in reply to not doing their job, but they lost money the whole time due to training, quality issues, and damage to equipment as well as increased security.
…there’s an old saying, “An Unwilling Horse Is More Trouble Than Walking”.
This was that.
…if the government wants to civilize them somewhere first, maybe, and good luck with THAT.
Otherwise, no thanks, we’ve got a business to run…
Give the slackers meaningless jobs, like ‘dig a hole and fill it in’ is in the military. Just get a warehouse and fill half of it with cement blocks – bring in the goldbricks and make them move the blocks to the other side of the warehouse every day. Nobody gets a check off on work requirements until all the blocks are moved.
Hey!
Maybe have them clean that outhouse in Wyoming!
I hear it NEEDS it…

All we get from the retard pols and journos:
“Sarrr, what would you say to the miiilllions of Amarkans who are loooozing thar medicares????”
If I had my way about it, there would be NO FedGov level MediCare, MedicAid…it would all be at the state level, easier to manage, supervise, inspect, budget, and prosecute for fraud, waste & abuse.
About damn time!
The average person can generate about 100W of power over a reasonable amount of time. (Peak output is about 400W.) This is using stationary bike types of pedal powered generators charging ordinary lead-acid batteries.
To unlock benefits, the Medicaid leech could be required to generate, say, an average of 250 Watt-hours per day at the govt power farm. That’s 2½ hours of medium exertion. Let ’em accumulate ‘earnings’ for up to a week, but the counter goes back to zero every Monday morning with maybe a 48-hr grace period.
I’m betting they’re actually removing the illegal aliens.
For example, back in the 90’s, a co-worker (an illegal alien) told me that her mother would get 1000 bucks per month just from social security and medicaid alone, because she “couldn’t work.” Then she told me that her mom regularly went back to Mexico 2 to 3 times a month to pick up boxes of leather jackets on the cheap and sell them back in California for hundreds of dollars each.
Cut them. Cut them deep.
“…MUCH larger and stronger and more casually violent than cats.” More violent than cats????? Ouch!
“Propose” all you want. Talk, Talk, talk. All you are doing is media Sound Bites for the next House elections.
How about passing the Legislation in the HOUSE and give it to the SENATE for a Vote ! Will the RINOs pass it?
Earn our votes !
MAGAnificient!!!
What about the muzzis that apply for disability as soon as they get here. that number has to be in the hundreds of thousands.
Paul Lepage did something similar as Gov of ME but he also put time limits on welfare benefits.
It was great
All smoke and mirrors
The floated work requirements are not expected to kick in until 2029. Conservative lawmakers have criticized the implementation for being far too late.
