A UC Davis professor thinks cops “need to be killed”

The Aggie-

“I am thankful that every living cop will one day be dead, some by their own hand, some by others, too many of old age #letsnotmakemore” — tweeted on Nov. 27, 2014.

“I mean, it’s easier to shoot cops when their backs are turned, no?” — tweeted on Dec. 27, 2014.

“People think that cops need to be reformed. They need to be killed.” — published in an interview on Jan. 31, 2016.

These statements were made by Joshua Clover, a professor of English and comparative literature at UC Davis and the focus of our online search.

I emailed Clover to schedule a meeting and learn why he’d made these statements about police, and whether he was aware of their life-threatening implications. I wanted to know whether his views had changed given the shooting of Natalie Corona, and if he’d walk them back or at least offer a smidgeon of context to them. This was the first step to uncovering the standards to which our university holds its professors.

Yet Clover offered little clarity, or remorse. “I think we can all agree that the most effective way to end any violence against officers is the complete and immediate abolition of the police,” he wrote me. His response suggested that he had no regrets about his remarks and would preserve them, as repugnant as they might appear to outsiders.

It doesn’t matter that his comments came years ago; there can be no statute of limitations on violent speech when the offender in question refuses to apologize or make amends. When professors advocate murder, we all lose.

UC Davis slapped Cover across the cheek with a fur lined glove turned inside out-

The university said in a statement: “The UC Davis administration condemns the statement of Professor Clover to which you refer. It does not reflect our institutional values, and we find it unconscionable that anyone would condone much less appear to advocate murder.  …  We support law enforcement, and the UC Davis Police Department and Chief Joe Farrow have been and remain critical partners to our community.”

And???? and???????????

Nothing happened to Clover, who idiotically directed all questioning by the media to “the Michael Brown family.”

I called them, they were too busy making merchandise to cash in on their POS thug HAF son.

  1. There are no shortages of pussies in this world and I guarantee you that if I walked right up to him and asked if he would like to make that statement to my face, he would slink off to his safe space.

Davis, Ca. like most university cities breed contempt for America and our cherished way of life, they revel in their “blueness”, not smart enough to release how limiting and myopic that thinking is. I would expect nothing less from academia.

  2. So be it.
All PDs across the country need to establish a “No response” list. When this nutty professor calls 911, his call rings endlessly.

And it would be a shame if the local ‘youth’ in his neighborhood learn of his status with law enforcement.

I’d put all the university officials on that same list. And notify them all of this status.

  3. Last year pencil necked, scumbag professor Mike Isaccson John Jay College of Criminal Justice, NYC, my Alma Mater, bragged that he enjoyed teaching soon to be dead cops, or something along those lines. He was suspended and then terminated.
    Scumbag Clover should be fired.

  4. It would be alot less disruptive, and ultimately beneficial, to society, if instead all leftist college perfessers ‘needed to be killed’. I believe they truly need to be reformed, by the perfesser convinced me, killed would be so much better.

  5. “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
    (dead white dude)

Like a cat pissing on the furniture, marking its territory, so does a college “perfesser” make known its political posture. I have no doubt that the cops will be the first called when some old woman in a MAGA hat slaps his false teeth down his throat.
    Hypocrisy knows no shame.

  6. Leading up to 9-11 leftists like this, especially Seattle politicians, went out of their way to make life uncomfortable for the military. Then when TSHTF who was screaming loudest for air cover over Seattle?

  7. Quite the bio on the University website: Specializes in critical theory, Marxism, political theory, political economy, poetry, and poetics. Interests include social movements, social reproduction theory, crisis theory, and the end of capitalism.

Sounds to me like a douche teaching courses in douchieness.

  8. If I ever see a cop getting a beat down I’m going in to help him.
I’m not really a fighter, but I don’t care for bullies. As far as shooting them in the back goes, let’s just say two can play that game.

  9. Sigh. NOTHING will change until people are held accountable for their calls to violence. Same for people being held accountable for their corruption, hoaxes, treason, etc.

Until then, justice will not be served.

  10. If bernie sanders and Harpo Marx had a son, it would probably look something like the commie POS! Someone should put him down just for his looks alone! 🙂

  11. As a taxpayer in California why on earth is he still on the payroll? Had it of been a conservative professor who made a racial or sexual comment he would be gone the first day it was discovered. This POS is still on our tax dime. UC Davis is a disgusting university to begin with this just solidifies my opinion.

  12. Cops are laughing so hard knowing that in the end a manual post hole digger is his fate,,,in his end.
Wished Bob Ross was still around to deliver the cure to him.
    Bob hated albino ‘fros!

  13. When superposed ”good cops” turn a blind eye to the psychopaths they call brothers, that abuse their authority, they are enablers and therefore, complicit. When the orders come to illegally confiscate guns, most will oblige until they no longer have the upper hand, then they’ll slink away like the cowards they really are. Even the thought of a fair fight makes most cops rethink their position.

  14. There is a real problem at UC Davis if they let this kind of murderous talk be associated with their university.
University of Missouri had rioting, social unrest and one professor or teacher who was advocating the unrest was released. I think she complained but the University really had to let her go or at least be disciplined, It was three or four years ago now I think, but there was a drastic drop in enrollment. Five or six dormitories had to be closed, since students refused to enroll at that Univesity. Last I heard, they were renting out the dorm rooms to football fans coming from out of town for football games.
Most students want an education, not a riot or someone who is advocating murder.
So publicize this kind of violent talk by college professors, and try to let the public, especially enrolling students know what they can expect. When tuition is going up to ten or twenty thousand dollars per year, and students and their families are going deeply into debt for the students education, the last thing they want is for that educational experience to be damaged by social unrest. It may be different in California, and I think they offer free tuition to undocumented aliens, although I don’t konw the exact policy of the California Board of Regents currently, but I think I have read that was what California was doing, so undocumented aliens might not have anything to lose, but documented students really are in a place that they have to do very well in college if they want to get a decent job.
