This is from a contributor who will remain nameless unless they do not want to —
2 Millennial bag boys, out of high school at least. Silly dude talk between them, both wearing baseball jerseys under their aprons.
Random question triggered by a song on Muzak. Can’t remember what it was. I think it was The Bangles.
Them: Did you know there’s a 49ner Diner and a 59ner Diner? How can there be both?
Me: Well, it could be because there were 2 gold rushes, one in California and one in the Yukon.
Them: A what? Gold rush? (more inane dude talk)
Bags almost bagged. Sloppily. Things falling out I had to repack as I grabbed my cart.
Then Kung Fu Fighting came on.
One kid: that’s some serious cultural appropriation right there.
The other nodded in agreement.
Me: You should look up the band that sang it.
I left.
They weren’t too bright, but “cultural appropriation” rolled right on out with no problem.
!snip!
It won’t be cultural appropriation once they see Carl Douglas. It will be diversity.
I’m sorry that Kung Fu Fighting came on….yep, still sorry..
There are random days where this type of shit follows me, maybe 1-2 times a month. If I let it, it will go on all day long. Usually I nip it in the bud, go home and start drinking after the second or third encounter.
The scary part, I sometimes start drinking around 8:30AM.
I finished high School in 73, but never heard that song until sometime in the 80’s.
Then again I didn’t hang around gay bars so I wasn’t exposed to Disco until a couple of songs went mainstream.
SMOD, please.
Throats were made for punching.
Your welcome.
