There’s some pretty big car enthusiast circles around that brought the mullet back about 3-4 years ago in the US. It was a joke at first but they’ve stuck with it. Cleetus McFarland and Vice Grip Garage to name a couple. Kinda funny they do ads for Keeps (hair restore) and have rapidly receding hairlines as youngins. Great guys, I’ve met them both.

Although the mullet has been around for thousands of years, the term was coined by the Beastie Boys in their 1994 song ‘Mullet Head’, likely referencing 1970s fashion icon Henri Mollet who wore one.

I looked at pictures of mullet fish as I was trying to find out the origin of the mullet “do”.
But mullet fish don’t wear their hair that way, so it’s still a mystery.
