GM, Fiat Chrysler side with Trump in California mpg fight.
Detroit News: Washington — General Motors Co., Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and Toyota Motor Corp. are siding with the Trump administration in a legal fight with California over the gas mileage rules that govern the nation’s automobile industry.
The automakers, together with the Association of Global Automakers, which lobbies for foreign-owned carmakers in Washington, announced Monday they are seeking to intervene in a lawsuit between California and the federal government to argue in favor of the Trump administration’s position that Washington should create one set of gas mileage rules for all the nation’s cars.
“The decision to intervene in the lawsuit is about how the standard should be applied, not what the standard should be,” John Bozzella, president and CEO of Global Automakers and Coalition spokesperson, said in a statement. “By participating we ensure the concerns of consumers, autoworkers, retailers and manufacturers are heard in this dispute.” read more
If California doesn’t like federal laws and/or automotive standards….let them build their own phucking cars.
Sure they do!
What great investments – GM and Fiat Chrysler!
After borrowing the most they could never pay back and giving it to the same numb-nuts left to teach Elon Musk how to do it.
Siding with Trump is a clear blame it on him!
With their new governor californians are getting both barrels of extreme liberalism and even the dimwits are beginning to see what a flake he is and the harm he’s causing. Enjoy your decision!!
Don’t kid yourself. The democrats are addicted to gasoline taxes more than anyone.
As soon a electric cars and bike paths start increasing, the democrats run out there with more taxes to make up for the loss.
California is Eyeballing the Fred Flintstone Zero Emissions Model.
It’s all just more “noise” from the Dems. Every automaker has a model that meets the standard, don’t allow the sale of any other vehicles. Let Smart cars, Vespas, and maybe some old Pintos, rule the highways. No more SUVs, pickups, Lamborghini, Ferrari, or any vehicles that fail to meet their standards. Reduce speed limits to 50 mph. Monitor all public officials homes, to make sure they are energy efficient. Starting with the governor, then all the dumb asses in Hollywood. Put an end to the, “Do as I say, not as I do”.
@Mithrandir, you are right on the money. The idiot libtards have already started their assault on e-cars with a charging tax in Seattle. They get us coming and going here. They can’t seem to get with the party on property crimes either. The revolving doors on the jails are in full motion. Commit a crime in the morning, you’re back on the streets by noon.
Gettin real tired of that plucking state dictating to the rest of the country what environmental regulations WE all have to follow. Low VOC everything, etc. Their diesel regulations have been a disaster. Glad President Trump has fired the first volley over the heads of these self-involved, self-absorbed assholes.
