MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Toxicology reports released Saturday in the death of Jose Fernandez have revealed that the star pitcher used drugs and alcohol just before crashing his boat off Miami Beach.
Fernandez and two friends, Emilio Macias, 27, and Eduardo Rivero, 25, died last month.
Reports show Fernandez’s blood alcohol was at 0.147, nearly twice the legal limit, and he had cocaine and other substances in his system at the time of his death.
Both Macias and Rivero were found to be under the legal limit for alcohol. Though, Rivero’s blood showed cocaine and other substances, as well. Macias was determined to not have any cocaine in his system.
A millionaire athlete is dead with traces of cocaine, alcohol and Lord knows what else in his blood. I’m shocked, shocked I tell you.
I remember years ago reading a book by Rich DeVos, owner of the Orlando Magic. He talked about drafting Penny Hardaway and signing him to a zillion-dollar contract. He had a talk with Hardaway about the obligations that come with money like that, about charitable giving and taking care of his family, etc.
Too many young, rich athletes are set upon by their jealous friends and have to ‘be cool’ by spending recklessly, acting recklessly, etc.
Well if you’ve had bad news
You want to kick your blues, cocaine
And if your day is done
But you just got to run on, cocaine
She don’t lie
She don’t lie
She don’t lie, cocaine
Feeling is gone but you just
Got to ride on, cocaine
But don’t forget this fact
You just can’t get it back, cocaine
She don’t lie
She don’t lie
She don’t lie, cocaine
A fast boat at night never works out to good. Especially if you’re hammered.
A handsome young man, with great talent and too much money fell from grace. Sad. He still is one of God’s children. Living people using drugs need to wake up.
Can Hillary still count on his vote?

When the day is begun,
Put some of this on, Rogaine.
If you got a bald spot,
Want to keep what you got, Rogaine.
Your hairline
It’s declined
And you shine, Rogaine.

Big money to fast and most people-kids- can’t handle it.
So called friends take advantage of you-and the peer pressure is to much to take. sorry to his family for their loss-but maybe someone should have taught him to pinch his pennies and choose his friends better.
Money is no sure cure for dumbassery
I feel bad for his family
Gee whiz… I still don’t give a shit…
Mind altering substances, fast boats and city slickers don’t go well together..
