The song became a hit after it appeared in movies and has become mainstream ever since, remaining a popular duet. It describes a man trying to romantically woo a woman who he likes to stay at a party longer because the weather is cold after she says she needs to go home.

Critics of the original version argue that the lyrics allude to unwanted sexual advances and even rape, noting that the man in the song pleads with the woman to stay and gives her another drink.

One couple from Minnesota thought the 1944 song was “so aggressive and inappropriate” and wrotea new version that they say emphasizes consent in sexual relations.

    Do They realize it was Ricardo Montalbán. I am pretty sure she was just being a bit coy perhaps a tease. I mean it was Ricardo Montalbán. I’d let him talk me into pretty much anything by choice but I wouldn’t want to seem too easy. Got to have some pride.

  14. I have Dean Martin’s Making Spirits Bright album, it’s a great album, I’ve always liked it around Christmas.

    However I am shamed to admit, I thought years upon years ago that the lyrics to ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ were a bit creepy. No I wasn’t triggered or anything like that. In fact I kind of get a kick out of it for painting a clear picture of Ol’ Deano trying to get in some dame’s pants.

    But nonetheless I did associate the song with a quasi-date rape scenario.

  16. Ah, I get it now. The song is about Bill Cosby and he slipped a roofie in her cocktail (“Say what’s in this drink?”).

    On another note, I recall years ago hearing the Christmas tune “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” as voiced by a Nazi Gestapo agent, even up to a screamed “I’M TELLING YOU WHY!!!” Disturbing, but it fit.

  17. You know, all of this pointing to this, that, and the other thing that’s not rape, but pretending like it is rape, diminishes rape for actual rape victims. It makes it so hard to believe that anything at all is rape.

  19. So a song that debuted in 1944 in a time when the penalty for rape was sitting on an a chair wearing an electrified helmet is an important factor in a “rape culture” 72 years down the road. Come to think of it, seeing as how this culture doesn’t really exist, maybe it is a factor

    Meanwhile the thousands of rap songs about doing bitches and ho’s with the most graphic lyrics imaginable .. that’s just fine and dandy

A musical example of what they did in Memphis – once the blacks (leftists, not really a race thing here) took power in Memphis they purposely destroyed anything (physical or not) representing the traditional “white” history of Memphis.

    This is just another attempt to chip away at our cultural heritage.

    Whether it is an example of butt-hurt leftists lashing out due to Trump Derangement Syndrome, who knows.
