This being Sunday, perhaps a quiz would be in order to see if you can tell the source of a number of famous phrases that have passed into common usage.

Both the plays of Shakespeare and the King James Bible were published around the same time and there are a number of passages that people confuse as the actual source.

I managed a 66% score. That sets a low bar for everyone else beat.

  1. 23 out of 30. Not as good as I thought I’d do. Oh well. An interesting story says that Shakespeare was one of the translators of the King James version of the bible. He was 46 at the time and supposedly translated some of the Psalms. If you go to Psalms 46 and count from the beginning to the 46th word, that word is shake. Counting 46 words backwards from the end of that Psalm gives the word spear. Maybe just a coincidence, maybe not. You know how quirky these artistic types can be heh, heh, heh.
