Since Robert Putnam’s “Bowling Alone” came out almost two decades ago, we’ve been watching social media further erode the nation’s institutions for building “social capital” among our citizens. A search on “the decline of social capital in America” generates related searches on the decline of “religion,” “moral,” “rural” and “society.” That’s how important it is to establish new means to bring people together in our self-obsessed world.
Perhaps, one answer might be the formation of a Beer Choir in your own community. Their stated mission is “to make our world a little bit better by singing and drinking together.”
