Biden Vows; No Pardon For Trump

Earl of Taint

Town Hall

Former Vice President Joe Biden told Iowa Radio he would not pardon President Donald Trump if the president is impeached and removed from office. He was making a clear reference to President Gerald Ford pardoning President Richard Nixon once Nixon was impeached. The pardon kept Nixon from being prosecuted for his role in the Watergate scandal. 1. Nixon wasn’t impeached.

Nixon was impeached by the House. He was not convicted by the Senate or removed from office by the impeachment process. Nixon resigned before they could vote to remove him from office. Also, Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were both impeached by the House, but not convicted by the Senate. – Dr. Tar

  2. …this exchange between Frodo and Sauruman’s Shrrif of the Shire could just as easily be a future Biden/Trump exchange…

“Very well, Mr. Baggins. But don’t forget I’ve arrested you.
–I won’t. Never. But I may forgive you”
-JRR Tolkien, “The Return of the King”.

…it’s FANTASY, so we’re PRETENDING Joe has some authority…

…but in that vein, with OUR President, Joe can’t even win in his FANTASY..

    “You’re breaking arrest, that’s what you’re doing, and I can’t be answerable.
–We shall break a good many things yet, and not ask you to answer.”
    -ibid.

    …didn’t end well for Sauruman.

Ain’t gonna end well for Joe…

  3. …someone needs to remind Joe he’s an old, White male, and so automatically eliminated from ANY job because, Affirmative Action…

…and yes, I know he’s been trying to “gay” lately, but they’ve got gayer than HIM in the race, so no dice…

  4. If Trump is impeached and removed from office after trial in the Senate, Mike Pence becomes President. As President, Pence can pardon Trump just as Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon.

I do not believe impeachment is realistic even though the Democrats control the House. The Senate is controlled by the Republicans, so a conviction would be even less likely.

From a political standpoint, there may be too many Democrats who would be tarred by a trial of any Ukrainian shenanigans, so I would expect these folks to object “on principle” to any impeachment proceedings against Trump. Over the past three years, most of the Democrat collusion/corruption allegations boomeranged back on members of their own party, and their minions in the media are unlikely to be able to provide them any cover in their foreign corruption.

  5. If President Trump were impeached and removed from office, there better not be any president until after the DNA cleansing of the Uniparty from the top down to the street sweeper.
