Black student leader who posted threats as white racist gets jail time

EAG: UNION, N.J. – A Kean University student who faked racist threats against her classmates on Twitter will spend time behind bars, and years on probation.
Union County Judge Robert Mega on Friday sentenced Kean University student Kayla McKelvey, a former black student leader, to 90 days in county jail and five years of probation for creating a false alarm. The 25-year-old was also ordered to repay the school and police $82,000 for the police response to her threatening tweets, News 12 reports.  read more

  1. Isn’t there federal penalties for “terrorist” type crimes? It strikes me that this one is a textbook terrorist crime and while no one was hurt it’s only because of luck.
