Democratic New Jersey Rep. Rob Menendez on Monday announced that he would seek reelection in 2024 amid calls for his father’s resignation over bribery allegations.
“I am focused on working every single day to represent my neighbors to the best of my ability. And I will be running for reelection based on that record so I can continue to serve the residents of this district that I love, in stark contrast to those who may run to further their own naked political ambition,” he said, according to Politico.
Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., was indicted Friday on federal bribery charges after law enforcement discovered gold bars and large amounts of cash at his residence. He faces allegations of taking bribes to use his influence to benefit the Egyptian government. He has resisted calls to resign and vowed to remain in office. more here
