Bobby Hatfield—- Enjoy – IOTW Report

Bobby Hatfield—- Enjoy

No Autotune.

Bonus tracks. One of the most underrated singers ever – Andy Williams.

Double Bonus-

Elvis would die less than 2 months later. The man was so terribly messed up. You can see it here, how he was struggling. But he holds the arena mesmerized.

  1. Went to college with Bill and Bobby. Bobby was “Black Bart” in either ’64 or ’65. SAE
    Bill was TKE

    Both good guys.

Knew a black guy at work that went to their show thinkin because of the name they were black; POd, felt he’d been cheated.

  2. I’ve always said that Andy Williams voice is the best male singing voice I’ve ever heard. Added Steve Perry and Darius Rucker to that list in the last few decades.

    Thanks, Fur.

  3. Treat yourselves and go to YouTube and watch the video of the American opera singer watching Bobby Hatfield sing ‘Unchained Melody’ for the first time. She has a YouTube channel called ‘The Charismatic Voice’. You will see a woman fall in love right before your eyes. It’s really something to see.

  4. Yep, Unchained Melody by the RB is one of the best romantic songs ever. And it knocks Chicks’ socks off when they hear it. Makes ’em swoon and get all teary eyed and thinking, why can’t my guy be like that?

Floyd Cramer did a cover – piano, no voices. Quite different than the RBs but very good, however, nothing beats the Bobby Hatfield version, IMO.

I wonder if we could turn back time and play it before some WWII troops at a USO show, what their reaction would be – if sung without the falsetto, which probably would not be cool in the 1940’s. These guys were thousands of miles from girl friends and wives. I bet some would have cried.

It’s amazing that we went from the Big Band sounds of Glen Miller to R&R in a measly 10 years. The RB and this song were big in 1965, just 20 years after the end of WWII.
