CA Legislature wants to spend $3B to get people to buy electric cars

KFI:

California has spent $449 million over the course of 7 years to get people to buy zero-emission cars. But the subsidies haven’t done much to help, people just aren’t buying electric cars yet.

Last year of the 2 million cars sold in the state, just 75,000 of them were pure-electric and plug-in hybrid cars. Currently, there are just 315,000 electric or hybrid cars registered in the state out of 26 million cars and light trucks.

That’s a pretty small number, but the state is still pushing forward in its fight to save the world so it’s pushing a bill that would boost the rebate program from $449 million to $3 billion.

  1. Gov’ Brown Seems Bent On Socialism at any Cost !
I Don’t Want To Live in A Failed Socialist State , When California is so Rich in So Many Things … There’s No Need to Fail – We Can Change The Government !!!

  2. DO IT!!!!! … the sooner, the better!
… can’t wait until you collapse your ‘Utopia’ … the sooner we are rid of your unicorn fairy dust fantasies the better the world will be

  3. So the state that barely has enough electricity to make it through a summer day without brownouts wants their subjects charging mass numbers of electric cars off the same electrical grid. Can’t say I’d agree that’s a smart move.

  4. Yeah, buy the matchbox car, then you get the super extra special tax treatment, because you’re not paying for the roads with fuel tax.
California, where there is never anything they won’t tax.
Hell, they tax cars that are sitting in your garage not even registered.

  5. $3 Billion coulda been spent on a subway system.

That takes cars OFF the roads, which really is the goal isn’t it.

    Oh. BART in a tunnel…

Aren’t they pissing away enough money on the Bullet Train?
