Cage Match #14 The Doobie Brothers versus Steely Dan
The Doobie Brothers
Steely Dan
Argh, Toulouse Street and Aja are two of my favorite albums. I can’t choose.
These have been agonizing choices!!!
EZ rock v soft rock jazz? It should be the Doobies v Kansas.
How about one for us rock fans? For example Dio-The Last in Line vs Iron Maiden-Hallowed Be Thy Name.
Having been sequestered for my early adult years (if you consider 18 an adult through 22 yrs of age) when I returned stateside I was simply blown away by the bands and music of the early and later 1970s.
These are two bands that were part of my journey to become humane again.
I’m more of a Steely Dan fan, but I have to side with the Doobies for harmony.
Either way Michael McDonald wins.
Dr. Tar: Listen To The Music was from the Tom Johnston era, although McDonald did play on that when we saw the Brothers Doobie last week. (In fact, both McDonald and Johnston played on everything no matter which era the song was from.)
Michael McDonald always sounded like he had a mouth full of marbles. Could not understand a word.
How about:
Kingston Trio VS Peter, Paul, and Mary
Doobie Brothers
