No harmonicas, wind instruments or singing
even for livestream services in Mendocino County

As cities and states continue to fight the coronavirus pandemic, one California county is being accused of taking it too far.

  1. …but God says…

“1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.

2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”
    Psalm 100, 1-5

    …to reiterate,
“come before his presence with singing.”

…I think I’ll take the Word of God over the unconstitutional Whim of Liberal ANY day…

  2. Surely, the county has no such authority. (Really, does anyone want to argue that a ‘county’ can limit the 1st Amendment rights of healthy citizens? Does anyone want to post the fine print of any statute proclaiming to limit those rights?)

On the other hand, in Washington, there was ~40-member choir practice back March (1/2 of the normal choir). A majority of the participants were over 50 and over half of them came down with ChiCom Bioweapon and two died from it. So, at 69, I would not participate in a singing service as singing, it turns out, is about the equivalent of coughing.

On the other hand, everyone else surely has a right to at their own risk, which is no different than being exposed to influenza viruses. If that county’s public health department were worth its salt, everyone in that county would be informed on how the virus spreads and then judge for themselves. No rights need to be violated.

  3. Jimmy–

I saw that article too. It is true that singing is a high respiratory activity, which could lead to greater susceptibility to COVID-19. I am part of a large choir that suspended rehearsals and cancelled our May performances, due to that fact. Large choirs should retool how they do things, but this Mendocino ruling is a bridge too far, IMO. As you said, whatever happened to common sense?

    > Wonder how many people will this cause to wake up and realize that government is now our enemy, not our friend?

    SRSLY?

Well… since you wrote “is now”… Mr. Owl says “The number is none”.

  5. Totally unconstitutional.

1st Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
