“Opposing the John Wayne Day resolution is like opposing apple pie, fireworks, baseball, the Free Enterprise system and the Fourth of July!”
He had disturbing views towards race,” objected Assemblyman Luis Alejo, D-Watsonville, leading off a 20-minute debate. Alejo cited a 1971 interview with Playboy in which Wayne [said] “I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don’t believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people”….
Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, D-San Diego, cited his comments defending white Europeans’ encroachment on American Indians who Wayne once said “were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.”
Luis Alejo, Lorena Gonzales. Hmm, I think I’m spotting a pattern. Nothing worse than a Liberal Mexican. Build the damn wall.
“Life is hard Pilgrim, harder when you’re stupid.”
I don’t think the Duke would want California’s approval if he were alive today. He hated liberals.
If California puts their seal of approval on anything, it’s probably best to throw whatever it is as far away as you can before it starts attracting rabid faggots.
Maybe Iowa will honor him with a special day; My son and I have visited his former home there. They still have the outhouse out back. They still think pretty highly of the good man there.
Unruly, funny thing is Wayne had a thing for Mexican women.
Brad, I know his wives were all Hispanic, and he could speak fluent Spanish too. Always some anti-American with an agenda when somebody tries to trash the great John Wayne.
There is very little about 2016 California that The Duke or countless other pro-American actors and actresses of bygone days would recognize or even be able to hold their stomachs for.
I’m almost glad they voted it down. I’d hate to think of the transcendental back pain The Duke would endure every May 26th…. spinning like a top in his grave.
Hmm… So they’re not going to wear Che shirts anymore?
OK, so he said he didn’t want irresponsible people in position of leadership. Makes sense to me. Who let these people out of their “safe place”?
These dipshits are perfect examples of irresponsible persons whom the Duke correctly stated “shouldn’t be positions of leadership”!
Are you all so oblivious to not realize the fact that the name “Pilgrim” is racist? Plus, his more than half of his 142 movies were Westerns where he carried a gun. He fought Indians in some of those films. Despicable.
Need I go on and on about why his image must be expunged from the memory of Americans?
Now, let’s talk about a serious celebration… April 24.
The birthday of cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal.
Just returned from a vacation in Texas this week. I’m sipping coffee this morning from my new John Wayne coffee cup. When I saw it in a San Anglo shop I had to buy it. Screw Calishitforbrains.
BTW, Texas is absolutely gorgeous this time of year. Wild flowers everywhere. San Antonio was also a blast – got there just in time for their festival. Yep, saw the Alamo of course.
Sometimes you just gotta ask yourself, WWJWD…?
I fly in and out of John Wayne Airport frequently, and walk past a statue of the Duke on my way to the shuttle. I”ve also been on the Wild Goose for a dinner cruise. John Wayne is still popular in Orange County, although every year more and more foo foo liberals from L.A. are fleeing the hell hole they created and contaminating our county.
I think the Dukes comments about irresponsible people in leadership hit a little too close for Ass. Alejo’s comfort.
