Censorship at Facebook wasn’t such a good idea

American Thinker: Facebook is taking a beating in the stock market, and it’s not a pretty picture.  I don’t like to see things like this happening, given the kind of trouble it can bring to other areas of the market.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq was set for a big down day Thursday after disappointing quarterly results from Facebook sent the social media giant hurtling toward its biggest share price decline ever and on track to lose more than $100 billion in market value.

The Invesco QQQ Trust, which tracks the Nasdaq 100 index and can give traders a good idea of how the Nasdaq stocks will trade, was down more than 2 percent at one point in after-hours trading Wednesday.  At last count, the ETF was off by about 1.5 percent.  Facebook lost about a fifth of its value after hours.

Nasdaq 100 futures were off by 0.8 percent.

The reasons seem kind of obvious.  Earnings are down, and that means that people aren’t using the site the way analysts projected.  more

  1. I’m fairly apolitical on my FB page but I do occasionally “thumbs up” an article from Breitbart or a history piece to irritate the lefties I know because they’ll see it on their newsfeed. Tonight I got a FB suggestion to like and follow, “The Progressives Voter Guide”. Yeah right, try telling me something hinky is not going on with THAT.

  2. Every time you open facebook, post something, like something, etc. you put money in suckerberg’s pocket.

The engineers at facebook have admitted they do everything they can to make it the digital equivalent of crack!

Kick the habit friends, if not for yourselves then for the good of the country.

  3. I have a page on Facebook. I don’t use it, I don’t like it, my son talked me into it. If it goes away I won’t miss it. They are finding out why you don’t treat users/customers like shit. The world will be a better place without them.

  4. I fired Farcebook earlier this year. When I found out that in college Zuckerberg thought people were assholes for giving him their information that was the last straw for me. Yes Chance, a lot of people act like it’s crack, but trust me, leaving Facebook doesn’t hurt at all, especially now the stock market thinks their Digital Crack smells like Digital Asscrack!

  5. My family tried to get me on Facebook and my roommate even opened a page for me on her site. I looked at it once. I already spend too much time online. I come here at iOTWr and Twitter (it’s my source of news since getting rid of my TV last year). Twitter is bad enough with their censorship via shadowbanning, I don’t need it anywhere else.

  6. Never signed up on Facebook – never will. What a corrupt, evil enterprise. So, now Facebook is in trouble, I love watching their utopian dreams crash and burn. Facebook is a centralized socialist propoganda apparatus – nothing more. Clueless lemmings posting personal family information, business connections and even criminal behavior are all subject to being foder for Deep State manipulation.

  7. FB got what it deserved. Diamond and Silk explained it nicely last evening.

FB keeps saying the people whose posts are being blocked from being visible are only blocked by accident as they tweak their algorithm. But the kinda funny / not so funny thing is – It’s only conservative, or republican FB post that end up always being blocked by each new adjustment to their algorithm. The leftist democrat post are never blocked. No common sense in believing what’s been blocked is by accident and not intentional by FB.

I’ve never used FB and never will.
