Weird that this would happen only days after Chuck Berry died since many, many people confuse the names.
When Jack Nicklaus or Jack Nicholson succumbs, watch out for the other one.
For the record, I liked Chuck Barris. I thought he was an interesting character.
He wrote a hit record, Palisades Park, and produced many hit shows – The Newlywed Game, The Dating Game and The Gong Show.
The Gong Show, the low rent talent show, was actually a lot of fun to watch.
Barris died in Palisades, NY, on the Hudson, not far from the old Palisades Park.
RIP

Loved the movie Confessions of A Dangerous Mind, which Barrie claims is all true.
One of our junior high school field trips was to sit in the audience for the taping of 3 episodes of “The Newlywed Game”. It was a big deal for us kids.
Gonged by life. RIP
What about the unknown comic? I recall that he was very funny. I forgot about Gene, Gene the dancing machine.
First Chuck Berry then Chuck Barris?
I think its Norris.
He finally snapped and is taking out all the other Chucks.
I loved the Gong Show
RIP Mr. Barris, you entertained us without insulting us.
RIP
“The Gong Show” was funny.
izlamo delenda est …
Loved the Gong Show. I swear he was drunk most of the time
My pals and I were on the Gong Show.
We played our living room hit: Eternal Elmo
When we were gonged about ten seconds after we started, we all turned in unison and said “Rex, you’re embarrassing us!”
We got more applause with that than our act.
Go figure
I wonder how much blowcaine was ingested in and around the Gong Show tapings?
I’m gonna play this Tuba!
(Whatcha gonna do?)
I’m gonna play this Tuba!
(Whatcha gonna do?)
I’m gonna play this Tuba – NOW!
And of course the guy would never actually played the tuba which made it funny as hell!
Loved the Gong Show, and always liked it when Chuck came right back, with more stuff.
RIP Chuck.
Maybe Choom Barry will be next.
Now he can be a participant on “Who is in the casket” show!
Got a little stale towards the end, but when it came on, it was the craziest, zaniest, funniest half hour of television.
He built great custom cars, like the Munsters Car and the TV Batmobile. He will be missed by Hot Rodders everywhere.
Tony, that was his brother George; kinda weird that he and Liberace both had brothers named ‘George.’ Uncanny.
RIP, CB2.

@odin. Not sure that Chuck Barris is related to George. Wikipedia doesn’t mention it.
well all those that have died lately have been in the late 80’s early 90’s– the good old days are coming to an end for all of us.
I’m sure in 40 years the next generations will be missing the good old days of a young Miley Cyrus.
Yeah right.
I can still hear Freddy “BOOM BOOM” Cannon sing Palisades Park.
Maybe now we’ll find out who the Unknown Comic really was.
RIP Chuck Barris
Have you got a nickel?

Sometimes I’m a little too obtuse.
His book “Game Show King” was awesome….He made $250 Million off of the Newlywed Game and the Dating Game…when $250 Million was a lot of $$$$$
And CB was effective and one of the trickiest CIA assassins in history too. Apparently no evidence, the targets just laughed themselves to death, RIP CB.

And he made the phrase,”Make Whoopie”, cool. Where it stayed until that nasty woman on the View came along and ruined the name.

You can never be too rich, or too obtuse.
Dude was hilarious, loved the Gong Show.
You’ll never see shit like that again on TV.
