Clinton, Sanders, Schumer and Warren all agree that the sitting President should nominate the new Supreme Court Justice.

Clinton, Sanders, Schumer and Warren all agree that the sitting President should nominate the new Supreme Court Justice. Not doing so, “would threaten both the Constitution and our democracy itself.”

Of course, this was in 2016.

Now, they will have the complete opposite view.

Politics makes me sick.

Boston Globe-

Democrats pushed Sunday for Congress to vote upon a Supreme Court nominee from President Barack Obama, sharpening a fight with Republican leaders who said they won’t consider a replacement for Justice Antonin Scalia until after the 2016 election.

Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, in a Twitter message, said Obama will occupy the White House until January. “It’s his job to nominate a justice, the Senate has a responsibility to vote,” Clinton said.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, vying with Clinton for the Democratic nomination, said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that denying a vote for a Supreme Court nominee “is beyond comprehension, and it just speaks to the unbelievable level and unprecedented level of Republican obstructionism against Obama.”

  1. They can eat shit. Bet your last donut if they had the chance to nominate & vote in a SC Justice, they would do it so fast your head would be doing the Exorcist spin. They’d laugh at any R attempt to put it off until after the election. As they well should too, just like we should do.

Remember after the dems lost the House in Nov/10, which they did because Pelosi threw the blue dog dems(Reps in R states) under the bus by forcing them to vote for ObamaCare knowing full well that they were signing their termination papers(dems lost 63 seats) So we know they are ruthless and their lust for power in boundless. Pelosi gave up the House to get that monstrosity passed. Power, baby.

I like Amy Barrett. If she gets the nod, she better have the fortitude to put up with, right now, unimaginable slurs & attacks from the moment she’s announced.

  2. How about a compromise?

After Trump replaces Ginsburg, House Republicans concurrently propose a bill to limit SC nominations 6 months before an election unless they can get 2/3’s of the Senate to vote for it. Effective January 1, 2021.

That memorializes what you say you want. We get what we want. You get what you say you want.

Assuming you don’t want those rules if you think you’re going to win.

  3. I was ambivalent at first. But upon reflection it is clear that the Dems would definitely push one through if they had the presidency and the Senate.
The Biden Rule/McConnell Rule is essentially: no justice will be confirmed in an election year unless the presidency and the Senate are the same party, despite insistence to the contrary.

Trump has signaled a mandate to do so and McConnell has said he will bring it to the floor of the Senate.

  4. it is imperative that this Senate vote on, & consent to PDT’s pick

the 800 lb. gorilla in the room is the chance the com’rats win the Senate (& they could). once PDT is sworn in (if he wins, regardless of the coming massive voter fraud) that’ll be the day the House moves to Impeach & turn it over to the Senate to convict & oust PDT

think about it … in order to save the nation, the SC needs to be conservative!

PDT needs to win the election & every Republican on the ballot must be voted for also.

  5. Thank Providence Barry O was as lazy as he is.
I believe he showed up at the Oval Office at 10am in his sweats hung over , smoking a cigarette and asking “what do I have to do today?”
Think of the damage he could of done if he wasn’t in the lowest percentile of lazy politicians.

Just for the record, simple math is beyond Bernie’s comprehension.

  6. If the Dems cry its too close to the election, one answer to that is “And why is that”

Is it because she refused to retire long after she was obviously too frail to be doing anything except occupy a room in a nursing home?

Saw a video of her in Sept 2018, and she was so weak she could scarcely talk. And then she breaks her rib and disappears for 60 days, and THEN gets another round of rejuvenating cancer treatment in May, 2020

But she’s still fit to grill attorneys in oral arguments and read long transcripts and write stinging dissents and what not

    Of course she was

  7. Exactly. She did an interview a couple of months ago where her words were dribbling out like piss from an old man’s dick with a swollen prostate. And then she nodded off during the interview in front of a crowd.

Somehow, I imagine her clerks writing her insightful opinions and dissents for the last few years and her signing a name to the bottom.

Incredibly selfish how she has held half of this country hostage to her lunatic worldview.

Some fawning interviewer asked her what’s the right number of women on the high court and she said 9. Somehow, I don’t think if someone asked Thomas the same question and he said zero that they would be applauding how funny he was.
