Cuomo Opposes Toll Pricing Scheme He Signed Into Law

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) Disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has turned against New York City’s controversial congestion toll, despite being considered its chief architect during his tenure.

On Sunday, Cuomo spokesperson Rich Azzopardi told the New York Post that the $9 commuter tax imposed on drivers entering Midtown Manhattan could do more “harm than good.”

These remarks directly opposed Cuomo’s successor, Gov. Kathy Hochul, who has defended the policy.  more

  1. This trend is out of control.

Here in the Bay Area, they raise the bridge toll by one dollar every year, despite getting rid of all toll booth operators and going automated due to Covid.

They have also instituted toll lanes on all freeways. These lanes, usually the one and two lanes, now cost money to drive on, usually about a dollar per mile.

The insatiable appetite for more tax dollars, this is how revolutions are born.

  2. It would be nice if tolls, vehicle taxes and gas taxes were all actually dedicated 100% to highway construction and maintenance. But sadly, and predictably, just like Social Security funds, greedy, corrupt politicians have stolen the money for their pet projects, to buy votes and enrich themselves.

  3. $9 is just another tax to impose on citizens where the Bridges were FREE before the lefties came up with “congestion pricing” which was intended to Force people onto “Mass Transportation” by Subway and/or Bus. No amount of money collected by the MTA can make up for people who aren’t paying their fares . Hochul has the power to fire Fat Alvin Bragg but she won’t.

  4. Michigan just barely missed adding toll roads to many oft traveled roads because ONE Democrat (in the lame duck session before the Republicans take over this year) decided to not show up and caused the lack of a quorum. But they still got the tolls raised on three bridges in the state.
