Politistick: Some kids have a natural appreciation for things, but not many. One Florida father has evidently had enough of his son’s entitled attitude and rather than simply regret his mistake of having purchased his son a vehicle, he’s taking steps to undo his mistake by selling his son’s SUV on Craigslist…. Nicely done, sir! I hope things work out satisfactorily for you and your son – and you’ve placed the bigger burden on your son where it belongs.
I’ve made similar attempts to help make my kids lives easier, and with similarly frustrating results. That was 10-15 years ago. Fortunately everyone is doing well now but those were a few hard years. Selling his wheels is the right move.
Guaranteed that some libtard somewhere will accuse the father of child abuse, pad parenting, or whatever.
*** knock $250 off the asking price for any local buyer so that the son can see his former SUV driving around town and be reminded of “how good he had it.”***
That is my favorite part. LOL
It doesn’t take a village to raise a child.
It taking loving parents, a guiding hand to let them know there are expectations and there are consequences to every action, as well as, rewards.
Now, if we just do that to the illegal Mexicans . . .
I worked my way through college back in the late sixties. As a freshman I was a breakfast cook for a fraternity, a very rich Jewish fraternity. One guy there went through three cars in one school year. His father owned a car dealership in NJ and this kid trashed a Vette, an Austin Healey 3000 and ended up with a nice newer Chevy Nova from his dad. This kid called his father every filthy name in the book because the Nova wasn’t a convertible.
I burned his eggs.
Selling the car is the right thing, but then I would take the proceeds and get myself a new set of golf clubs (or what ever floats your boat)
My first car was a used Exploder also, my parents bought it for me. Well, my dad bought it so he could stuff me in to drive his ass to Alaska at age 16. It was an awesome trip, we had a great time.
Upon returning home for Christmas after my first semester in college, the Exploder was gone — To my surprise, he sold it. “To pay for my tuition.”
I told my old man to piss off and stop paying for my tuition. I supported myself from then on, and yes, I did graduate under my own power. Communication was rough for the years that followed, and it has now been over 8 years since we’ve exchanged so much as 1 word.
Don’t let a vehicle get in the way, I guess is the moral of my story.
Parents today are way too indulgent.
My father wouldn’t even pay the extra few bucks a month it would have cost to put me on his insurance as a second driver.
Lol, my dumb assed kid will be 18 before he gets his license. Grand Cherokee just sitting there for now. He knows better than to even ask to drive on his permit, his phone is moar important and that is not working either.
Tough to get that dope smell out of, but getting that dope of a son out of it is a good START! 😀
