Dem Atlanta Mayor to hire 250 new police officers after surge in homicides

News Thud

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, a Democrat will reportedly hire 250 new police officers after a major surge in homicides.

Homicides surged 58 percent in 2020 according to reporting from AJC.

Atlanta City Council member Howard Shook said in a statement last month “Stop minimizing our concerns by telling us that ‘crime is up everywhere.’ Spare us from the lie that the steady outflow of our officers isn’t as bad as it is. It will take a lot to turn this around. But here, in descending order, are the three things we need to begin: leadership, some leadership, any leadership.”

  1. Standing against the police to favor the Leftists doesn’t seem to be working out well at all. It seems to have resulted in a rise of violent crime, maybe crime in general as well.

Or maybe I’m just trying to establish a correlation that isn’t really there and there is a different and unrelated explanation for it.

  2. Leadership is so 20th Century. It reeks of toxic masculinity and colonialism.

The Harris/Biden Administration is the leadership model for the shining path ahead in the 21st Century.

  3. Physics cannot be denied, even on a existential scale. But do be aware, the reaction is sometimes NOT as expected. Overreaction in cases such as ‘removing police’ can and does lead, sometimes to an overcompensation. That over compensation could be the underlying motive of “de-fund the police’ and it’s called ‘a police state’.

  4. This smells like an admission they’ve LOST 250 officers due to stoopit mayoral policy.

It remains to be seen if there are 250 dummies willing to sign up for a death sentence to do a thankless job.

Shameless stupid bitch should resign, but he arrogance won’t let her.

  5. When I worked at the Fulton County Courthouse eleven years ago, the murder rate was already so high the courts could barely keep up with them. I can’t even imagine what it’s like now. (And yes, unsurprisingly, it was made up of almost exclusively one demographic.)

  6. All of the metro counties outside of Fulton have experienced trained officers from the ATL police filling their vacancies in the city/county police and sheriff’s departments.

On a side note, the ATL police is overlooking misdemeanor drug violations and not drug testing new hires. Its not hard to figure out what that is going to do for the ATL.
