Democrat Illinois governor says churches may not fully reopen for a year or more because of coronavirus

Washington Examiner: It could be more than a year before churches are allowed to resume their in-person gatherings, according to Democratic Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

Pritzker announced a five-phase plan to reopen Illinois that gives guidance to schools, businesses, churches, and other religious centers about when they will be allowed to reopen. In phase three, gatherings of up to 10 people will be allowed. In phase four, gatherings of up to 50 people will be allowed. Gatherings of more than 50 people will not be allowed until phase five.

During a press conference on Wednesday, Pritzker confirmed that churches will be held to the same standards and will not be allowed to hold in-person services of more than 50 people until phase five, even if it takes more than a year to get to that position. read more

  2. Sounds a little like China sounded in past years, which led to where they are now in regard to Churches which they essentially ban except for State approved ones that deliver State approved sermons using State edited and written Bibles.

Wonder if the same policies will be forced on Mosques in Illinois, or will they be given a different treatment?

What we really need is to amend the Constitution to guarantee that the State will not interfere in any manner with the religious practices and services the people choose to engage in when and where they choose to engage in them.

  3. Time to go Rosa Parks and call his bluff.

Don’t ask permission, just reopen anyway. Don’t be showy. Don’t antagonize. Don’t mock or goad him. Just let word spread.

Then let’s see him try to order the ISP to shut down and arrest you all.

Let him try it. Watch what happens.

  4. What part of the 1st amendment and freedom of religion does this jackass not understand? He has no right or authority to declare himself as a small god who can rule and reign as he pleases and overrule not only the God of the Universe but the U.S. Constitution as well. This will not end well for this tyrant, he needs to be sued by the DOJ and arrested by US Marshalls and removed from office pronto, preferably frog marched out in chains and shackles all bound and gagged. God will not be mocked and this jerk governor will not escape God’s wrath on him.

  5. So…we will find out if Christians actually exist. Will Illinois avoid Islam as too dangerous to mess with and pick off followers of Christ only? I like the way that the dirt bag placed the blame on experts…however, the question is will Christians end this vile rule quickly, strongly, without a moment of hesitation or will they discuss matters, seek compromise, wait for more irrelevant evidence etc.? Is Christianity gutted by pc, will the progressives tell Christians to turn the other cheek and omit the fundamental belief in individuals and freedom from the state? I have ordered popcorn to watch and find out if we are already lost…not because of pritzker, not because of the state, not because Democrats are godless sub humans but because we bowed, we lost our soul, we denied Christ .

  6. We ain’t seen nothing yet, if (it’s still a big if) the Supreme Court overrules Roe v Wade at the end of this term next month and kicks abortion back to the states where it belongs all hell will break loose on the left. They hate God, us, Donald Trump, the Constitution, the rule of law that much.

  7. I think I’ve said before I’m a huge dirt racing fan. To me shutting down races was just as idiotic as shutting down parks. For a few years I went to the same track every weekend. Before social distancing was a thing, I was able to social distance. Only on big money races with big series coming in are stands full, regular weekly racing usually finds stands about half full anyway.
So these states still not allowing tracks to race are causing more people to be together. Because guess what’s happening at tracks that are able to open and up next weekend there are still only a few, racers want to race so racers are traveling hundreds of miles to race. Those tracks are seeing record car counts for regular pay out races. So even with the states allowing racing, limiting the number of grandstands, they’re increasing the numbers in the pits.

So for number one it’s ignorant to shut down outdoor events. But then everything they’ve shut down is ignorant.
For two government actions are doing opposite of what they claim to want, small crowds.

Now you got some people blaming this track owner in Indiana, why can’t he just follow the rules and wait until he’s told he can race, it’s just a short wait, we’re going to allow him to practice in a week or so. It’s no big deal if we block off his private property, he can drive through the grass or can walk. It’s pretty sad that this is in Indiana with a Republican governor. Hell even in Wisconsin with a democrat governor they didn’t go this far with a track who hosted a protest race. They didn’t stop that race, granted it was a race with no fans on grandstand side, but they didn’t prevent the race. Rumors are the track owner in Wisconsin was fined afterwards.
You are messing with a lot of rednecks when you mess with racing and if this owner had not called them off, those barriers would be gone and might still end up being as racers and race fans are pissed and want them removed.
Reading on FB there are two protests planned one at the County courthouse, this one the track owner called for to try and prevent all the cars who were planning on parking in front of the barriers and lining up for miles to cause headaches for the cops. Although about half of them are saying they will protest in front of the courthouse, the other half says nope they’re sticking with their original plan and won’t move until the barriers are taken down and they’re allowed to race. About 3/4 of those who say they will protest at the courthouse are calling for both protests.

I have a feeling those concrete barriers will be gone one way or the other, not real hard to move them.

  8. Mainstream Protestant churches have become virtue-signaling centers. A couple weeks ago I heard about gluten-free communion wafers. Don’t think there will be much revolt.

  9. Isn’t this similar to how all this started well over 250 years ago ? Religion, guns, taxes, elite power.
Those ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it……..

    9
  10. …if Democrat governors think they are the ones who should be in God’s place, doesn’t that mean the press should call them God Dem Governors?

…we have better weapons, but our forebearers had bigger ballz. The gun is NEVER as important as the hand that wields it, and the modern hand is weak indeed…

  13. …seriously, though, this had given me a real problem with MY Church, and MOST of the Churches around the nation. I don’t mean faith in God, THAT only gets STRONGER with adversity, but rather with trust in PASTORS to read and act on The Word.

    The early Church, the one documented in the Gospels, wasn’t really noted for knuckling under to the Roman authorities, and they had MUCH more persuasive means at their disposal. It’s tough to imagine the man who wrote THIS;

“19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”
    Ephesians 19-20

…meekly saying to, say, DeWhine of Ohio and his baby-murdering witch, “OK, we’ll disobey the Bible and stop worshipping the Lord together as the Word commands as long as you say so, secular authorites”, but rather it would seem to the the antithesis of this.

    It is kind of clear on the point;

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
    Hebrews 10:25-31

…Oh-oh, did you CATCH that, “And so much the MORE, as ye see the day approching”. NOT LESS…

…and it doesn’t contain any qualifiers like “Unless there is a rumor of a virus loose in the land, and the political authorities tell you not to”.

…I mean, even AFTER the Pharasee THOUGHT they had dealt with their little “Jesus problem” that threatened their man-made “authority”, Paul, though threatened with the same or worse as his Lord, had PLENTY of sass for them,,,

“1 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.

2 And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.

3 Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?

4 And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God’s high priest?

5 Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.”

    Acts 23,1-5

…did you catch that backhanded way that Paul took a shot at the high preist? RIGHT TO HIS FACE? “I WANT to tell you what you are, but ONLY my Lord, whom YOU want me to renounce, is stopping me, NOT you!” is the subtext, slapping him DOUBLY with the implied insult AND the fact that he CONTINUES to follow the teachings of Christ RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM…

…pretty sure THAT man wouldn’t care what some dink in the Illi Statehouse has to say about it. He’d just tell them he’s going with the Word.

Kind of like Peter did earlier in Acts, in fact…

“25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.

26 Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.”

…THESE men faced DEATH! By stoning, by crucifixion, by a daggar in the night, nasty, painful, shameful DEATH, such as they had ALREADY seen done to their OWN Lord and savior!

…so I’m pretty sure no ISP agent, Governor shill, or threatend “loss of tax exemptions” would back THEM down…

The Bible tells us we must respect authority. To a point. But when Man’s authority conflicts with God’s authority, God MUST win out.

…every Pastor needs to stand up for Christ at this time. If they’re just gonna fluff the uneaten Gluten Free Coummnion Wafers in front of their unseen online audience, this may be thing that we are warned about a bit later…

“1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;”
    2 Thessalonians 2:1-3

…time to choose up sides, and the Word has a suggestion THERE, too…

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
    Joshua 24:15

    …serve the Governor.

    Or serve the Lord.

    …shouldn’t even be CLOSE…

If your religion bans your exercise of the 2nd amendment (not your hoarding, by the grace of the 2nd amendment — your exercise of the 2nd amendment), your loss will not be, even, noted (let alone, lamented).

The priestesses of Xrist? We knew that answer, before the question was, even, formed. Let alone, asked.

So… same as it ever was.

And the right will beg “their” professional betters to accept the contents of their wallets. From “their” couches. For the privilege of “participating” in such much great republic. Same as it ever is.
