An internal investigation of the Transportation Security Administration revealed security failures at dozens of the nation’s busiest airports, where undercover investigators were able to smuggle mock explosives or banned weapons through checkpoints in 95 percent of trials, ABC News has learned.

The series of tests were conducted by Homeland Security Red Teams who pose as passengers, setting out to beat the system.

According to officials briefed on the results of a recent Homeland Security Inspector General’s report, TSA agents failed 67 out of 70 tests, with Red Team members repeatedly able to get potential weapons through checkpoints.

  1. Is ANYBODY surprised at this? Unionized burger flippers as our leading front for air security? I’d like to know which airports but the truth will not be released. Ever fly through ATL?
You will understand the 95% failure rate..

  2. Several years ago, my crew and I were dropped off at the front of a northern NY airport (SYR or ROC). As we passed the ticket counter, our airline rep asked us if we’d place “an item” in a bag and try and go through security with it.

They gave us a stick of dynamite on a 2X4 with an alarm clock attached. We placed it in one flight attendants bag and we went through security with the rep standing close by.

TSA did NOT catch the “bomb”.

    Sleep well tonight.
