FOX: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the former WWE star-turned-movie giant, partnered with RedBird Capital to buy the league at the 11th hour, Sportico reported Monday. The league was nearly set to go on auction. Johnson and the firm reportedly paid $15 million for the fledgling football league. more here

A note to one of my favorite grapplers: your league has the opportunity to be “Alt-Football.” Go for it and actually give folks all the sports entertainment they desire.
…or replicate the actions of the NFL, NBA, and MLB and lose your shirt.
The Rock could exploit the NFL’s bowing to BLM and present his franchise as the football game where the athletes stand for the national anthem. He could do that and tap into a ready made fan base.
I think Rick summed up the reality of the situation.

I like watching football, though have given it up in recent years for the reasons I have stated. If this does become a viable option, I will give it a chance. In the meantime, I am still looking at the corn hole league and pro bass tournaments. That is if I bother turning on the telly.

I use to be a Rock fan. Over the years he seemed like a pretty shrewd business man, leaning conservative. He sang that Hillary song which pretty much had me convinced. Immediately after the Floyd shooting he released a statement on Instagram essentially threatening LE and white people in general with violence. Now since then he’s done a couple pro cop events. He needs to pick a damn side and stay there. I won’t be tuning in to watch any games.

For $15 million? That’s not even a ‘fire sale price.’ It’s junkyard pricing.
Due to Covid, fans in the stadium will not be allowed. Just make sure your fans at home are social distancing and wearing masks. Also, the players must use a wide stance (!) and be no closer than 6′ from each other. No butt slapping, hip bumps, high five’s, dancing or singing. Celebrating spreads Covid and is a threat to our democracy. But kneeling is required before, during and after the game. The team that kneels together, stays together. No whites allowed, only black players matter and they don’t like Asians, either. No praying, crossing yourself or praising the Lord. However, facing Mecca and prostrating yourself in lieu of kneeling during the national anthem is ok. Starting games with the national anthem is not recommended and may be prohibited in some cities. All players must be woke and registered members of either Black Lives Matter or the Black Panthers.
He won’t “lose his shirt” one way or the other. $15 mil is just walking around money for him.
Hmmm. Saw a report yesterday, on FNC maybe, about how when the kneeling during the national anthem started, the kneelers were asked to justify what they were doing.
Now it has changed to asking those who remain standing to justify what they are doing.
My response to this nonsense – every week a new sport is added to my do-not-watch-anymore list.
The Rock is woke, it will go broke.
