EmDrive Has Physicist Scratching Their Heads

Earlier this week NASA published its findings on the performance of the experimental Emdrive engine.  They concluded that it does generate a small amount of thrust despite the fact that there is nothing coming out the back to push it.  If this can be verified by other labs we could be looking at a new more efficient space motor and forced to rethink physics as a whole.

  1. Sandia National Labs has been playing with Radio Frequency (RF) Resonant Cavity Thruster technology for about 10 years. Probably because they get free access to Area 51.LOL. NASA should go talk to them. We were making some parts for them back in the day on that project.

  2. “…a new more efficient space motor…”

It’s not really about efficiency, it’s about practicality. What makes this motor interesting is that all it takes is electrical energy but no fuel in the normal sense of the word. A craft using this technology would not have to carry around a relatively large reaction mass and have to accelerate it with every course change. That’s a big Biden deal.

  3. Lazlo is enthused.
It may not be the holy grail of space travel, but it may be a look into the room it is stored in. It may achieve thrust by interacting somehow with non baryon matter and draw thrust out of empty space.
Or a bad cable in the testing equipment.
Either way there is interest drawing mathematicians, physicists and others into the arena and they are bringing their skepticism and curiosity with them.

  4. It’s a gizmo designed to generate public acceptance of massive government funding.

The problem with measuring forces this low is that you can’t differentiate the reading from the background noise.

Open another hole in the ground and just pour in money, that’s what this is all about.

  5. It cud be working thought beams … really … I’ve found that if I concnetreate real hard, I can fart! Not nuff to propellar me into the future, or nuthin, but enuf to be heard and smelt.
