FEMA Alert System Will Sound Alarm on October 4th at 2:20 PM ET

GP: The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), has announced a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), as reported by The Gateway Pundit last month.

The test is scheduled for tomorrow, October 4, at approximately 2:20 p.m. ET and will involve sending test messages to all TVs, radios, and cell phones in the United States. The announcement was made through an official press release on FEMA’s website.

The national test will consist of two portions: one for WEA and another for EAS. The WEA portion will be directed to consumer cell phones, marking the third nationwide test of its kind but the second to all WEA-compatible cellular devices. The message will display in either English or Spanish, depending on the language settings of the wireless handset. more

  1. I understand the need to periodically test emergency systems and this makes sense.
However at this time I have very little faith or trust the the government so I will be running a test of my own by placing my phone in a Faraday bag this afternoon.

  2. Let’s hope that there aren’t a lot of dumbass ignorant people out there who don’t have a clue or pay attention think that this is a real national emergency. There are enough ignoids out there who just might panic like they did when Orson Welles broadcast The War of the worlds back on Halloween 1939 and a lot of frightened people listening thought that it was real. Relax, it’s not like the Vogon constructor fleet is going to show up unannounced and destroy the Earth to make way for a hyperspace bypass today. I’m turning my phone off temporarily this morning at 11 AM Pacific time and leaving the radio and TV off and everything will be fine as usual.

  3. My understanding is that the alarms will function whether you have them off or not.

It’s scary enough that the Alphabets can invade every device you own, but they can backdoor activate it also.

Have you noticed how you can no longer take the battery out of all models if cell phones in the last few years?

  4. Besides, if the Vogons do show up, well there isn’t much we can do about it. Have a drink, go for a walk… it’s all over.

  5. I think if your ringer is off it will still make a noise, but it shouldn’t if your phone is turned off. Mainly because I don’t think that would be possible.
If your phone is turned off, the alarm may go off when you turn it back on.

  6. I have my iPhone set where any calls not on my call list go directly to voicemail without ringing.
I go back and block virtually all of them. Almost none of them leave a voicemail.

  7. In case the test on October 4 is postponed due to widespread severe weather or other significant events, a back-up testing date has been set for October 11.

The system is weather-sensitive? What the boinkity-boink? What if the big emergency was a giga-hurricane or the biggest tsunami in history on its way after Antarctica explodes?

  8. forgot all about it … got my message @ 2:20 PM …. very loud “Annnt, Annnt, Annnt” sound w/ a quick message that left because of all my Ring cameras went off about 5 seconds after the message popped up …. “veddie interesting”

the message did say something about Emergency Broadcast System & report to the nearest train station …. & bring your shovel
(shamelessly stolen from ‘The Peoples Cube’ 😆 😉)
