Florida Ed. officials lied about Parkland shooter’s involvement in PROMISE program

American Thinker: Following the February 14 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Broward County school superintendent Robert Runcie vehemently denied the killer’s connection to or participation in his controversial PROMISE program.

In a March 23 Sun-Sentinel op-ed, Runcie pushed back against “fake news” related to the mass shooting:

Contrary to media reports, the district has no record of Nikolas Cruz committing a PROMISE eligible infraction or being assigned to PROMISE while in high school.

A few weeks ago, in an interview in his office with WLRN-TV, a Miami PBS affiliate, Runcie called the mass murder a “horrific accident” and repeated his assertion there was no interaction between PROMISE and Cruz:

Let me reiterate this point, Nikolas Cruz, the shooter that was involved in this horrific accident at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, had no connection to the PROMISE program.

Turns out, Runcie’s many denials over these past few months were the real “fake news.”

A few days ago, WLRN received word from two sources familiar with Cruz’s school records that, contrary to Runcie’s prior statements, the shooter was referred to the PROMISE program in 2013, after vandalizing a bathroom at Westglades Middle School.   read more

  2. Horrific accident???? WTF!?!?!?! An accident is stubbing your toe, or bumping into something. Is that idiot trying to say that the little turd Cruz accidentally brought a gun to school, accidentally tripped, and accidentally killed a bunch of fellow students? This was no accident, horrific or otherwise. This little shit intentionally and maliciously planned out this little “accident” and then intentionally killed his fellow students with malice in his little black heart. Superintendent Runcie is an asshole.

  3. I remember these sort of ‘programs’ back in the 80s. They shuffle the kid around, threaten to leave the kid back one grade or promise to advance him 1 grade if he behaves, move him to a different school, another school, then to the ‘bad kids’ school (final chance before he’s booted from the schools in the entire city)and not one moment of counseling or anyone yelling at him to straighten his ass out. In the meantime, this ‘poor child’ is outside of his high school’s fence selling drugs at lunch, getting into fights, stealing, or knocking up the jr. high school girls across town.
    In other words, when a kid’s an asshole, believe me, everyone knows where he is and what he’s doing because assholes have no shame and don’t hide.

    So no one can tell me they didn’t know Cruz wasn’t or was in a special program. They knew. They always know because there’s $$$ involved from the county, from the state, and the feds to keep these programs running.

  7. The parents of the 34 student victims need to form a class-action lawsuit against Runcie, the school district, the sheriff, and the county. Make these assholes pay until they are broke and homeless.
