For the First Time in a Long Time, People Are Hopeful

Townhall

There are several reasons why people are encouraged heading into the new year, but one of them might be slightly surprising: The prospect of President-elect Donald Trump taking office.

CBS News/YouGov poll revealed that 60 percent of respondents said the incoming Trump administration is a reason why they are feeling “hopeful” about 2025.

About 55 percent cited family/personal relationships, while 51 percent referred to the economy, personal finances, and opportunities. More

  1. Hope is most pronounced when your default position is despair.

All those things that normal people value—safety, personal freedom, economic prosperity, accountable government leaders, the rule of law, social capital, and living conditions that improve the quality of life—either deteriorated or were under assault.

People saw what a great job he did the first time, what a disaster Biden was, and they all long for some normalcy in their lives.

  2. “For the First Time in a Long Time, People Are Hopeful” …of no foreigners being imported to take their jobs. Come on, Trump, say it isn’t so. If it is so, stand before the American people and say so; we deserve to know.

  3. I’ve poster here before about the fickle Bay Area VC guys. I started doing business in Silicon Valley 40 years ago. Back then it was ultra conservative and then fuck patriotism, China. So I’ll pull this number strait out of my wazoo and estimate between 60% to 85% of all Venture Capital in our country originates between Page Mill and Alpine Roads. A filthy stinking rich address. You don’t live there unless you wipe your butt with $1,000.00 bills. Well after Reagan all these families went total freaken Libtard. They could afford it and it was fashionable. They lost their asses during Clinton. They broke even with GW until the last three months of his last term. BoRock damn near killed them, but he was kinda black so. They got back to making money with Trump 45 and that might have opened their eyes. They embraced Biden. And now their figuring out this socialism shit ain’t so kool. 97% of them backed Trump in the last 6 months of his campaign. It turns out profit is a cool thing. The price for being fashionable I guess. A lot of this is family money. Some of it’s cooperate earnings. They would hire Mark Cuban to cut their lawns. But two weeks before the election they started jumping back into financing start ups. That’s either optimism or desperation. I’ll go with optimism.

  4. The old adage, “Money talks, (expletive) walks” is applicable here. When the richest man in the world claims “America is going to be SO LIT!” while wearing a MAGA hat and hugging Donald Trump while doing so, even the small shareholders are listening. Sorta like that 80’s ad for E.F. Hutton. That, and paying $10.28 for an 18-pack of eggs over the Christmas holiday because the Democrats have so totally throttled the economy time and again.

Our hope is not in vain.
