Based on the character flaws and mental health anger issues of the average leftist, I think the solution is a twostep process.
First, rather than violating the Second Amendment rights of the balanced members of our society, it would be more logical to just ban all gun sales to any/all people who espouse a radical anti-social Democrat mindset. When they get arrested for various public violations make it a law to disarm them permanently.
Second, reestablish government mental health institutions to treat people who have fallen for hard left ideology.

As an additional…..anyone being prescribed psychotropic drugs by a physician, the prescribing physician needs to put the patient’s name into the NICS system to stop them from being able to legally buy guns. (if the Dr doesn’t, then the DR is sued)
The patient’s name can be removed from NICS when/if the physician stops prescribing psychotropics/says they’re well and healthy (mentally and physically).
It won’t stop all school shootings (Sandy Hook, Adam Lanza killed his mother), but it will put a stop to comments, “how was he legally able to buy a gun when he’s on drugs?”
