France Begins Rating Motor Vehicles Based on Age, Cleanliness and Carbon Output and Bans Use on “High Pollution” Days

France is tagging motor vehicles with a mandatory sticker that alerts authorities to its overall performance and aesthetics. This is used to fine, and block usage of, vehicles it deems bad for the environment. This also includes vehicles entering from neighboring countries.

The Sun-

Scooters, cars and lorries travelling to Paris, Lyon and Grenoble must have the sticker displayed showing how much the vehicle pollutes, on a scale of one to six, from March 31.

The six coloured stickers indicate the age and cleanliness of a vehicle. Cars are rated according to whether they are electric or hydrogen-powered, petrol or diesel cars, and how old they are.

The sticker scheme has been introduced to tackle high levels of pollution in the French cities, and vehicles with high pollution scores can be banned from entering the French capital on days when pollution is high.

Now they need to start tagging people that are bad for the environment.

  1. Frankly I wish CA would do this, instead of focusing on CO2. A single gross polluter more than offsets thousands of newer, clean-burning cars, and is rather offensive. An easy start is every Mercedes diesel more than 30 years old.

  2. Levels 1-6 for polluting cars. The electric doesn’t have a number because it doesn’t pollute at all.

Where do they think the electricity comes from?

What do they think happens to nice new Teslas in a decade or two? The same thing that happens with old petrol cars. They sit in the backyard and leak. Now instead of one lead acid battery spilling, you’ve got a bank full of high capacity lithium leaking all over. Gee, no pollution there.

But, hey, as long as the socialists can’t SEE the pollution (as evidence with a plug-in 0 emissions sticker) then it doesn’t exist.

  3. Now if they could come up with a sticker rating system for B.O.. Yeah I went there and I’ve been all over France and some of the French need to be better acquainted with modern standards of hygiene.

  4. I put “high pollution” in quotes because it’s not like saying “Wednesday.”

Once this is in place “high pollution” days will be more and more, until every gas powered vehicle is banned.
Muslims will just have to get used to mowing people down in electric cars.

  5. Left Coast Dan
And battery disposal. Even before the car sits in the backyard leaking they will have gone through several batteries. Not cheap, and certainly not environmentally friendly.

  6. UN Agenda 21, proceeding on schedule.

Demonized private vehicle ownership/usage as precursor to outright banning.

An immobilized population reduced to standing in the rain at bus stops is a well controlled herd.

  7. Vehicle inspections should be abolished altogether. It is a complete pain in the ass and just another non deductible expense. And another way of controlling the masses.

  8. “the mind is a terrible thing to waste” and there are many people on this planet that have wasted what they have been given at birth. They say-I’m okay-your okay-or
can’t we agree to disagree>? it is all bull chit..
stay away from stupid people-it may be contagious.
