Bumped: Full Backstory on the Federal Refuge Seige

This is a very important story. It is a perfect example of why the 2nd Amendment exists, and must continue to exist to maintain a free society.

  1. I just finished reading that article – I am livid – every American needs to read every word of this history of the Hammond family’s nightmare starring our government as satan. Please, God, by Your mercy and grace, help the Hammonds to be exonerated and everything that has been stolen from them restored. Please show Yourself strong on their behalf and on behalf of those who are standing with them against this evil.

  2. The best tl;dr summation I’ve found on this be a fb commenter. Speak up if something is missing.

“Ranchers create good grazing property that also attracts birds. Government appropriates property as an Indian Reservation with no Indians and wildlife preserve that, over the next hundred years, drives away wildlife. The FWS (Fish and Wildlife Service) and BLM (Bureau of Land Management) engage in shady if not downright illegal actions to drive ranchers off property (diverting water to create flooding on private lands, effectively destroying the ability to use those lands). Ranchers, broke and out of options, sell to the government). Flood waters miraculously recede (anybody check if Obama was in the area at the time?). Government agencies resort to vindictive actions to harass a family (Hammonds) who refuse to sell. Government agencies charge family with terrorism for stopping a lightning fire by starting a backstop fire – an action any competent fireman that deals with wildfires would know to do (and has probably done many times). Jury of non-peers is finagled by prosecution, trial is rushed, judge takes government side and makes sure government side is heard while other side is stonewalled. Hammonds are convicted and sentenced to jail. Do their time. Now government wants them to do more time to meet the max for the supposed “crime” they committed.

Gee, I’m absolutely gobsmacked that this is happening. The US government is playing a dangerous game here. Our ancestors started a war over a damn tax. The government is so far beyond that now that the morons in DC should be thanking their lucky stars we actually are very polite, civilized people. If we weren’t they’d almost assuredly be in hiding if they weren’t dead already.”

  3. Thank goodness fedgov has not acted to put me out of house and home like they have done to the Hammonds and many others we do not know about.

The facts speak for themselves Res ipsa loquitur

  4. A lot of hand-wringers on the right are worried about the media using this against us. Well….duh. My question is: What is the breaking point for citizens to exercise their 2A rights against a tyrannical government? “First they came for the Hammonds and I did nothing…..”

  5. “Odd, I don’t think of Sipsey Street Irregulars as “quisling” material.”

Neither have I. Not once. Until today. I don’t grasp their stance given the circumstances. I have two friends in Oregon I’ve asked about this situation.

Neither is clouded in their take on just how wrong they see the feds in this matter.

Neither of the two are idiots. They are both fully aware and engaged adults who have a firm grasp of how our nation is supposed to work.

I’m the last guy you’ll find riding out to tilt at windmills. But this whole prosecution stinks to high heaven.

  6. Oregon BLM are a bunch of Nazis. Google up Sugar Pine Mine. The Harney Basin story has been going on for a while and the Hammonds are not the only victims of a run away Federal Government. It sure seems like the media is on the side of the government here. There’s certainly some potential for Federal over reach and violations of peoples rights. But it’s pretty clear that the Hammonds are being sentenced twice for the same crime. How’s that work? I wish the Oath Keepers would jump into this mess.

  7. Posted elsewhere from a personal friend of mine in Oregon. Not an acquaintance, a friend.

“Follow up post for those of you who need the Fast Version:

    1. ranchers bought land (legally), and acquired water rights (legally). They paid their taxes and their grazing permit fees like good subjects citizens.

    2. the Feds wanted all the ranches in the area. To that end, they (DFWS) bought out ranches from those that would sell. Then they illegally misdirected water sources (that they didn’t own) to flood out neighboring ranches (doubled the size of the lakes nearby). THEN, when the flooded out ranchers couldn’t make anything of their ranches, they sold them for pennies on the dollar to the Feds. Good planning, right?

    3. Hammonds wouldn’t sell.

    4. Hammonds acquired more water rights (legally), and won in court against the Feds.

    5. DFWS built a fence around the Hammonds’ water. The Hammonds pulled it down. The Feds had them arrested. Hammonds won in court again.

    6. DFWS closed a road on the Wildlife Preserve that the Hammonds used to move cattle to other parts of their ranch. Hammonds opened it. Feds had Hammonds arrested. Hammonds proved in court that the road belonged to the county, and not the Feds. Hammonds won in court (again).

    7. BLM and DFWS revoke Hammonds grazing rights. Randomly, I’m sure…

    8. Hammonds can’t afford their ranch, so they sell.

    9. Hammonds get their ranch back.

    10. In 2001, Hammonds call the Feds and let them know that they are going to do a legal prescribed burn. It burns 127 acres of Fed sage brush. It looks like this:

You could be dropped off in the middle of this vast sage/grass land and drive for four hours in ANY direction and not be out of the wasteland. The Feds didn’t even know about the land burn when it happened.

Hammonds are arrested. Charges dropped. Again.

    11. In 2006 Hammonds see a range fire started by big lightning storm. Coming for their ranch, including the home. Steve lights a back-fire on private land, which puts the range fire out, saves the cattle and the ranch. Doesn’t hurt anyone, endanger anyone, anything.

    12. In 2011 (five years later) the Feds charge the Hammonds with Terrorism, push the jury around, keep testimony vital to the Hammonds case out of the courtroom, and get a ‘Guilty’ verdict from people who don’t know the facts, nor what the punishment is going to be.

    13. Federal judge says that the 5 year minimum is unconstitutional, and gives 1 year sentences. The Hammonds serve.

    14. BLM folks get a federal prosecutor to push for resentencing. Hammonds are going to jail for 4 more years for burning SAGE BRUSH to save their ranch and their cattle.

    Let that sink in.”

  8. I disagree, and here’s why. You and I and every other of our commenting friends here are properly and reasonably OUTRAGED by what the feds are doing – and so is Mike Vanderboegh. He has continually banged the “moral high ground” drum for years, though, and he is correctly concerned that those who have taken over the wildlife HQ might be (a) jeopardizing or squandering that high ground, or (b) influenced or even led by people who want a shootout even if they have to start it themselves (they’re well down that path already). Especially considering all of the well-documented cases where fed agents provocateur have led the gullible to do – or attempt – terrible things, and that the previous Bundy standoff negotiations were infiltrated by govt informants, Mike’s call for caution in this particular set of circumstances and personalities is in my opinion completely justified. Remember – he was physically present at the Bundy’s when his physical condition made that difficult and risky. He personally knows several of the major players here, and he’s been on record since then that some are simply untrustworthy.

This fed crap HAS GOT TO BE STOPPED. This current play may well not be the right way to do it, not that I know what is.

  9. I think maybe a visit to the feds at their own offices may be in order. They want a war, don’t wait for them to show up, bring it TO them.

BLM only messes with these people because they’re in an out of the way area and 90% of the people in this country have no idea there is privately owned land.

And what is going on with these asshole governors that are letting the feds take state land? That includes the so called Constitutional Republican governors. You are not “America”. You are OREGON first.

  10. My neighbor down the street’s family owns cattle up CA.
He told me all about the BLM tactics. [Unsafe puddles, yes, puddles, fences erected by BLM for no reason, ‘we found a rare plant on your property’, etc…] So far, they aren’t messed with them too badly because his old man has some clout. But unless one of the sons steps up and gets as mean as the old man is, the feds will wait for the old guy to die. And then, game on.

  11. no surprise….Communist National News reports….
“Prosecutors said the Hammonds set a fire that burned about 130 acres in 2001, to cover up poaching. They were sentenced to five years in prison.
The Hammonds, who are set to turn themselves in Monday afternoon, have said they set the fire to reduce the growth of invasive plants and to protect their property from wildfires, CNN affiliate KTVZ reported.”

whole different story….nothing to see here folks ….. move along
We have met the enemy ….. it is our own government

  12. Fair enough…
…I wasn’t so much referring to/concerned about the Hammonds themselves
(though I pray God protect them…of course the whole “prosecution” is more persecution)
as much as the FALSE FLAG situation that could be (ab)used by the Federal Government.

I thought that was important to share.
    No? Yes? Your thoughts appreciated.

  13. It sure seems like the media is on the side of the government here. There’s certainly some potential for Federal over reach and violations of peoples rights.”

So when is the media not on the side of government and where can you find any instance of non-government overreach and non-violation of people’s rights?

  14. ****One of the protesters, Ammon Bundy, said they have no plans to be violent, but they will stand their ground if need be.
“We pose no threat to anybody,” said Bundy, when asked how he and demonstrators would respond to law enforcement officials attempting to them. “There’s no person that is physically harmed by what we’re doing.” *****

But Montel Williams wants them dead.
    Inciting violence.

  15. I guess Montel didn’t take that oath he took as a Marine too seriously. Or maybe he’s too stupid to figure out who the enemy is. There’s a shit load of militia headed that way. Last time around the militias got position on the feds and the feds walked away with their tails between their legs. The militias are capable. Not so sure about the FBI teams. The BLM Rangers suck. Your average FBI or US Marshall is not all that hot on firearms. Their main concern is qualifying. This could be interesting but it looks like somebody is going to underestimate their opponent. i would imagine the feds are going to pull out all the stops.

  16. Montel is a disgusting human being. If any of you heard him on radio back when 0bama came into office, you’d know. He’s called for people to kill themselves. Sick bastard.

Don’t let the so-called work he’s doing for wounded soldiers or some bullshit federal mortgage programs fool you. He’s fucking unbalanced.

  17. “Don’t be surprised if that town wakes up tomorrow to 1,000 new armed tourists.”

Brad, just heard from one level headed combat vet from the East Coast just threw a bag in the car.

Was debating with themself on the 300 mag or the 50 BMG as a secondary weapon. Don’t know the final choice.

  18. There’s 4 militias in Northern California that left this morning. Those are just the ones I know of. Two of them are way north and I’m sure are there already. There’s a lot of LEO that are patriotic enough that they can’t be to crazy about gun fighting these guys.

  19. Nov 20, 2015 – Montel tweeted this:

“If the Government ever makes Muslims carry ID cards or shuts down mosques, I will have no choice but to take up arms against my government.”

  20. found an update at Wirecutters site that led me to the link below
    http://knuckledraggin.com/2016/01/44433/

UPDATE 8:42 PM EST Sunday 1-3-16 — NATIONAL GUARD ACTIVATED; FBI enroute to confront militia at night.

SuperStation95 has just learned the Oregon National Guard has been activated by the Governor regarding the militia seizure of a federal complex. We have also just learned the FBI is on its way to the scene. Word has reached us claiming authorities will ATTACK the militia at night . . .

    https://www.superstation95.com/index.php/world/723

story’s exactly the same as the one posted at The Last Refuge but with a bit more information

  21. After reading the Three Percenters position on this as well as the Oath Keepers I’m changing my position. They’re doing our cause more harm than good. There’s a certain number of these militias that want a gun fight and they want it now. That’s who’s showing up. There’s 15 of these guys in a building so remote nobody would have known except they alerted the media. They need to leave now.

  22. From the Article Czar posted above: I was first apprised of this a few minutes ago by folks on the ground out in Oregon. They report that Payne, Ritzheimer and every other “tiger-talking” fruit, nut and federal provocateur previously identified from the Bundy standoff were now in possession of the building and daring the Feds to do anything about it.

My initial reaction was to observe that at least afterward we’ll know who the federal snitches are because they will be the only ones who survive the raid to take back the building.

My understanding is that this premeditated action has been condemned by the Oregon Three Percenters and other groups but the fact of the matter is that these people are writing checks that they expect the rest of us to cash in our blood.

And the Hammonds themselves are disavowing this action in the strongest terms.

For the regime, this could not come at a better time. The old Roman adage “cui bono” applies here.

There is nothing on the talking heads channels as yet, but by Monday, when Obama meets with his Attorney General on the subject of citizen disarmament, you can bet the farm that this will play right into that narrative. Perfect timing.

You’ve got to give the federal handlers of these pukes credit. This is precisely the sort of offensive action on the part of the “militia terrorists” that they needed.

A Threeper source on the ground relates:
“The stupid has gone so far that I don’t know if it can come back. These f-cking morons have no idea what they’ve done. The sheriff has retreated to a ‘staging area’. These guys are about to get obliterated. MSM just picked it up outside local area. It’s now regional (San Fran etc.)”
