  1. During the Spanish Reconquista, when they drove the Moors out of Spain, the Spanish developed a sword fighting technique using a long two-handed sword, intended to be used in a one-against-many conflict. This Spanish two-handed sword was similar to the older version of the long Scottish claymore two-handed sword. I suspect they were used in similar fighting styles.

These weapons allowed the used to engage the enemy at a greater distance than the shorter swords typically used by their opposition.

In unrelated news, the US claymore anti-personnel mine is named after the Scottish sword. Stand off distance is still important, it seems.

  2. One more time, because it can never be said enough…

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”–Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

  3. As a 21 year old left wing burnout in California back in 78′ I was given the Gulag Archipelago by a beautiful blonde girl. I read it cover’s to cover’s and it changed my life.
I became the renegade of my family and to top it off, summer of 79 I gave my life to Jesus, got married and voted for Reagan.
The beautiful blonde I married was not the giver of the Gulag Archipelago.

Thank you beautiful blonde in Santa Barbara circa June 1978 at the Shell station.

    Nuff said

  4. This quote was perfect:

I wonder if the gun grabbers will recognize the irony of the need for groups of armed men, to disarm other groups of armed men who don’t want to be disarmed?

  5. They know damned well that they can’t take our guns without killing all of us first; and they are cowards who don’t have the balls for a fight like that.
But it is our duty to America to teach the next generation the importance of holding this same standard of protecting our freedoms, to the death if necessary. Our schools won’t teach that anymore.

The method they have been working on through the indoctrination and emasculation of citizens has not been a waste of time for the Left. They are working towards the day when they will just tell the indoctrinated idiots to turn in their father’s firearms because they cause global warming or whatever, and the stupid ass kids will just do it. And that day is not all that far away, sadly.

The Left has control of the schools, the media, Hollywood, facebook, google, etc., and it’s all having a great impact on how the next generations will react to the overreaching government tyrants.

Teach a kid how to safely handle a firearm and how to shoot a target. And talk about the importance and meaning of our Constitution. Teach a bunch of them, future freedom demands it.

P.S. and show up and raise hell at every political meeting where they try to take away our rights. Be hard to teach a kid anything if they succeed in making that illegal too.
