Buzzfeed has reported and the gay hook-up site Grindr has confirmed that it has shared HIV status of its members to two firms who specialize in improving related application performance. Buzzfeed claims that Grindr shared a great deal of personal information on its users including ” GPS position, ‘tribe’ (meaning what gay subculture they identify with), sexuality, relationship status, ethnicity, and phone ID to other third-party advertising companies.”  More

While gay advocacy group ACT UP has declared this an “extremely, extremely egregious breach of basic standards,” Grindr has released a statement declaring such data sharing practices common place in the industry.  More

Except those who contacted the disease through no fault of their own, the government should maintain an open to all web site with pertinent data on drug abusers and fudge packers; name, DOB, address, pictures, the whole shiteree.
