6. When my wife lived in one of the former USSR satellite countries, she got tired of her sister’s boyfriend beating her up. My wife had a childhood friend who became a high-ranking police officer. After a conversation with him, the offending boyfriend was found almost beat to death in a dark alley. He never offended again.
