  1. GREAT ANALOGY – MY UNCLE WAS IWO FIRST WAVE AS A MEDIC (A CORPSEMAN, THANKS OBAMA) AND I AM GLAD THAT HE IS NOT AROUND TO SUFFER THE INTOLERABLE LEFTIST REPRESENTATION OF THE COUNTRY HE FOUGHT FOR ACROSS THE SOUTH PACIFIC!!

HE LOST MANY FRIENDS ON THE BEACHES AND IN THE JUNGLES, SHARED PHOTOS WITH ME OF THEM POST MORTEM, NEVER WAS THE SAME!! RIP, UNCLE SAM!!

  2. Mt Suribachi is what the Corps (not corpse Bush! You Ivy League dummy!) is all about! If you are a real Jarhead you believe:
    Death before dishonor

    Do or Die!

I absolutely believed it when killing Chinese for JFK 51 +50 years ago!

    Sill do!

  3. I’m not paying any money to see this piece of political correctness. If Hollywood can remove Kevin Spacy from a starring role in a movie as J. Paul Getty just before it is about to be released, these fools can add the scene where the AMERICAN flag is planted on the surface of the moon. I’ll bet that they won’t fix it, because they are so certain that humankind ( or peoplekind in Canada ) made it to the moon. I still remember Armstrong stating, “That’s one small step for humankind, one great leap for peoplekind!” as he planted the United Nations flag in that grey moonscape.

  4. “As described on his posthumous Navy Cross, second only to the Medal of Honor in American military honors, Walter was without cover when he delivered a steady stream of neutralizing shellfire against a fortified enemy position, enabling his infantry unit to charge and wipe out the resistance in the waning days of that campaign.”

Walter’s MOS was cook…and he was from the Bronx.

Let Hollyweird do a story about that.

  5. I don’t watch war movies…The last one was Full Metal Jacket because it hit close to home since I was attached to the 2nd Battalion 5th Marines right after the battle of Hue City. I tried to watch Saving Private Ryan but got as far as the beach landing scene and had to turn it off, the sound effects of bullets hitting flesh alone gave me nightmares it sounded so realistic. I just can’t do it anymore.

  6. Public schools don’t teach history anymore.

“thank you for your service” made me very uncomfortable the first time I heard it 4 years ago.

I was thinking, “Where were you 49 f’ing years ago?” Hell, the kid was only 20 years old, didn’t have a clue about Vietnam and was parroting the insincere platitudes of a Country trying to gain its self-respect after betraying Veterans for decades, starting with WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Kosovo, etc..

Hearing those empty words still makes me uncomfortable, as most younger generations don’t have a clue what sacrifices those in the military make so they can continue to stay in their Mom and Dad’s basement while protesting and rioting in support of Socialism and Communism.

My Dad served in the Pacific as a Marine Corporal, I miss him dearly, but I too am grateful He doesn’t have to witness the witless disrespecting all that was accomplished by this Nation’s Veterans.

  7. @Cato

Thanks for finally saying it! I’ve always felt a little cheesy when some one says “Thanks for your service…”

My service was something my family and my country expected of me (after so many relatives served in Revolutionary, Civil, WWI, WWII, and Korea…) Of course I would serve – I got paid for it, I gained skills and became me because of it, and I am a big old softy with a quick heart today for America because of it — don’t thank me — get my back and serve as well and support your country. Let me wear my flag and service colors and sing the heck out of that anthem beside me.

  8. My Dad and my Brother are in Arlington – no, not war heroes, just dead.
My sister, my brothers-in-law, my uncles, my son – all served in our Armed Forces.

When I meet a veteran and say “Thank you for your service” it isn’t some empty bullshit phrase to make me feel better about myself – I mean it.
