Potentially hundreds of drones are resting on the bottom of the Yarra River after a mysterious technical malfunction on Friday night sent them plummeting into the water in Melbourne’s CBD.
The drones were to be part of a pre-game light show before the Matildas game against France at Docklands Stadium.
For reasons still to be determined, the drones broke off from their programmed routine and descended into the river at Docklands. More
Probably was the result of some bored kid in his mother’s basement learning to code. Aren’t you happy your new car talks to the mothership each time you get in it?
There’s some green haired kid sitting at a computer with a big can of Foster’s and some anti capitalism poster in the background laughing his ass off.
did dingos drown your drones?
Auto rotate on this!
Some one with RF knowledge built a high
power jammer that uses the same modulation
scheme as the drones……. Most drones operate
near WiFi Freq.s 2.4 ghz & 5.8 ghz.

…maybe, but most high end drones are programmed to loiter if they simply lose signal. I never tried groups of drones but seems like they’d do the same thing. Some also have sensors and some base programming to keep them from accidentally hitting things that isn’t depependant on constant comms, again in case of RF interference that isn’t an uncommon problem with ANY RF device so you’d HAVE to take that possibility into account if you’re device can do damage and you’re not a fan of being sued into oblivion.
If so, it would need to be some delberate instruction given them to ditch.
Seems more likely a hacker than anything else.
Or maybe it was simply an idiot coded them and signed them wrong, because Z 10 meters and Z -10 meters will produce VERY different results in Cartesian position instructions, and as expensive as those things can be, probably not something their Millenial programmer would readily admit to, even to zirself…
I say it wuz a demonstration of the long finger of Uncle Xi…
“Ah sooo… you think you can control our drones?”
Lemme guess: the password to the network controlling the drones was probably set to “password” or “network” or something stupidly easy to hack, wasn’t it?
I dropped my mouse in a glass of water and it became useless. Are these salvageable? Waterproof?
I hope it was an Australian gun rights group behind this.
Do the props rotate counter clockwise down under?
SUM TING WONG and his government?
Fuck Em!
Only ChYnA locked Down its citizens worse that the Aussies.
… and Yeah, Toronto/Ontario was also among the longest locked down.
(but physically too large to enforce)
Fuck Wads
It’s normal when you live in a land down under.
“The drones did exactly what they should’ve done with any technical glitch and they auto-rotated and landed.”
Ah…NO! They fell to Earth like a rock!
Because they do not have the ability to alter the pitch of the blades that support them, it is IMPOSSIBLE for them to autorotate!

So what else are they lying about?
