Just The News: The National Park Service lacks adequate security measures to supervise prisoners performing jobs in America’s national parks, the Interior Department’s internal watchdog is warning.
The problems surfaced during a recent Inspector General investigation that discovered that inmates convicted of firearms and drug offenses had obtained dangerous contraband, including knives and tools, after being left unsupervised for two hours in a national park campground while on a prison-release work detail.
“We found that the NPS has no relevant policies or formal procedures in place for the management of inmates while they are under the supervision of the NPS,” the Interior Department inspector general warned in a report earlier this month. read more
I always pack heat in national parks.
STFU
Gang violence, dangerous contraband, knives and tools.
Guys are running weed whacker gangs.
The Horror
National Park Service Interior Department inspector general on policies and formal procedures . . . STFU!
The NPS is just like every other inept federal bureaucracy.
When you think they couldn’t do any worse, some asshole with a smokey bear hat comes along to prove you wrong.
They, in fact, have their own well armed security force used to keep people out during Barky’s shutdowns, and to arrest noisy campers.
dindus just getting fresh air, what could go wrong?
the park service has their own work crews
let the jailbirds clean up los angeles, baltimore, chicago, seattle, etc.
Sure… Let the inmates out of jails so that they can make room to jail regular citizens that are in the parks, on the beaches and in church parking lots. Makes perfect sense!

Convicts want fresh air and sunshine and exercise?
Move the power generating stationary cycles outside and let them create power for the prison outside.
One ten hour shift on the cycle nets you two hot meals, a hot shower, and AC or heat in your cell for one night
This is a very big problem because this is how Gang Violence will grow. Visitors are always at risk. Unfortunately, people are indifferent to this, but it is a big problem that needs to be addressed. I realized this by reading a few essays on Gang Violence at tooly.io/gang-violence/. This is a good service where you can find an essay on any topic or just order an essay. It is very convenient and simple.
I believe that security measures need to be strengthened, as ordinary people should always remain safe.
NPS tried to prohibit concealed carry in “their” National Parks. As I recall, they got sued and lost. Concealed carry laws of the state where the park is located prevails.

California State Park Rangers are armed. But the foremen of the Cal Fire inmate crews are unarmed. Get it? Does that make sense?
