Is The Louisiana School Famous For Rags-To-Riches Ivy League Acceptances A Fraud?

DC: T.M. Landry College Preparatory School in Lousiana made headlines with a series of viral videos showing their students reacting to news that they’d been accepted to Ivy League Universities.

But a new report from The New York Times has exposed the dark underbelly of the school that once boasted “a 100-percent college acceptance rate.”

According to the report, transcripts were doctored and extracurricular activities were invented. Students were encouraged to lie about their family situations in order to make their successes appear even more dramatic. And students and teachers alike described a “culture of abuse” that was widespread.

T.M. Landry rocketed to the top of the news cycle in 2017 when a number of their college acceptance videos went viral

The school was profiled by The Washington Post.

“The Today Show,” as recently as October of this year, ran a segment touting the school’s unprecedented success.

But beneath the surface, according to The NYT’s report, things were not so simple. MORE

  1. Given the atmosphere in todays universities it’s no surprise they were snookered. Just mention under privileged blacks and they’ll trip over themselves to accommodate them beyond what any others could possibly hope for.

  2. I live in Louisiana and can assure you that we have the best corruption in the US. It has gotten to be a point of pride. I dare you to find a state that can beat us.

  3. @david7134 – I’ve heard rumors that Rhode Island could give you a run for your (and all fellow citizens’) money, but up there they don’t have anywhere near the sense of pure fun your Louisiana crooks have.

  4. You people are pure amateurs. We have had the most corrupt politicians since the 20s. You can even call the capital and they will give you a list of what the officials charge for their services.

  5. @david7134 – I gladly concede the point. LA did, after all, have congresscrook and later governor Edwin “The only way I can lose is if I’m caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy” Edwards scoring beaucoup points for the team!

edit: Not to mention that late, great crook, Huey Long.

  6. Nobody holds a candle to ILLINOIS

Michael Joseph Madigan (born April 19, 1942) is the speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives.[1] He is the longest-serving leader of any state or federal legislative body in the history of the United States, having held the position for all but two years since 1983.[2] He has served in the Illinois House since 1971, representing the 22nd District in southwest Chicago.

If you want to take lessons, here’s the guy to look at…
He’s the emperor of IL and all consider it a privilege to kiss his ring.

Column on one of his underlings…

LA might have someting to brag about, but crude compared the smooooth and slime of our guys…
