It’s Time To Put An End To Emo James Comey

Federalist – Don’t be fooled by Comey’s emo Twitter feed. As the investigation into FISA abuse goes deeper, questions about the FBI under Comey are stacking up.

Someone has to get former FBI director James Comey to stop tweeting. Ever since Comey revealed his anonymous Twitter account last October, he’s displayed a weird and disconcerting side of his personality on social media that can only be described as emo James Comey.

Last spring, in an impressive feat of online sleuthing, Gizmodo reporter Ashley Feinberg figured out that an anonymous Twitter account under the name Reinhold Niebuhr (consisting mostly of nature photos) actually belonged to Comey. In October, Comey confirmed it and changed the account name to his own and his handle to @Comey.

Since then, Comey’s Twitter persona has grown increasingly odd. He has a penchant for posting sentimental platitudes along with awkward pictures of himself—not selfies, mind you, he actually asks someone to take the shots— MORE

  1. When I saw him testify before the oversight committee and make the claims that he made and especially his prepared opening remarks, I thought, “There’s definitely something not right about this guy.” By that I meant he doesn’t even put himself in the equation; a guy who not only was in the center of it all, but who lead much of it. Frankly? I think James Comey has a real mental problem, and I’m not being flip about it. His tweets and his book and everything else he says sounds like someone who is dangerously split off or trying to split off from his own personality. On the one hand he lied his hiney off, straight-faced, to the congress and to the president. Then, on the other hand, he sits apart from that same guy and lectures the world on ethics, morality and altruism. As much corruption as we’ve seen from so many bad actors in gov’t, none of them have gone so far as to write a book about ethical leadership. He’s a true nut job. Scary to think he was the head of the FBI.

  2. I think he’s got some kind of martyr thing going on, too; All of his pictures are taken in places where assassinations or mob hits happen in the movies, and they’re all taken from the hit man’s POV. I wonder who’s taking the pics for him…his wife? Benjamin Wittes?

AA, you’re right. He’s a deeply disturbed fellow.

  3. “I want the American people to know this truth: The FBI is honest. The FBI is strong. And the FBI is, and always will be, independent.”

Does anybody else feel it’s kinda weird to “quote” oneself in a tweet?
I’m not sure he knows how this works, I’m not sure he knows how anything works.

  4. Meerkat, Thirdtwin — Didn’t he try to come off as the cartoon character, Dudley Do-Right? To hear Comey tell his story, he’s the original straight arrow, fearless fighter of evil, a two-dimensional cartoon character out of any number of 1950’s tee vee land. Would be interesting to know what his earliest years were. I’d bet his fantasy life lasted a lot longer than normal.

  5. Comey is a legend in his own mind. I think he actually believes the bullshit that comes out of his mouth. If I was him I would be looking for good hiding place. Seth Rich unavailable for comment.

  6. Comey turned out to be such a big d bag. I guess I should have known that when it came out that he was hiding behind curtains to avoid Trump. Not exactly a normal thing for a grown man to do.

  7. I’m not convinced it’s truly Comey behind the twitter acct. I don’t know who it is (and it may be someone associated with him), but I have a funny feeling we’re being trolled.

Based on how infiltrated our spook agencies have become, I don’t trust ANYONE with prior association.
