It’s Time to Talk About the Secret Service Problem We Saw Yesterday – Andrea Widburg for American Thinker

AT-

Preliminarily, let me say what I wrote yesterday: Trump’s near miss seems to have an element of Divine Providence to it, reminiscent of how George Washington invariably emerged from the heat of battle unscathed. Just sayin’. Now, to the topic at hand, which is the Secret Service’s performance before, during, and after the assassination attempt. It wasn’t good.

Ironically, just yesterday, I finished reading Lee Child’s Without Fail, which was published in 2008. In it, Jack Reacher works with the female head of the Vice President’s Secret Service detail to help foil an assassination attempt. Unlike most Reacher novels, this one had no fistfights. Instead, it focuses tightly on what the Secret Service does to protect politicians.

I don’t know what kind of research Child did, but the point he makes repeatedly—and it’s an obvious and intuitive one—is that the Secret Service must control the high ground. Every rooftop or high floor within range of a politician is a potential platform for an assassin.

In Butler, Pennsylvania, however, not only did the Secret Service seemingly make no effort to control a rooftop within relatively easy shooting distance of a former president and current presidential candidate, but Secret Service agents also seemed disinterested in repeated warnings that a man with a gun had crawled on top of a building that gave him a clear shot at President Trump. This video shows the first eyewitness we heard from, but reports are that several other people saw the same thing and had the same response from Trump’s security detail—that is, no response:

  1. This is the only thing media should be talking about today. Instead they’re busying saying the problem is retaliatory attacks. Feeding the rotten minds of shitlibs everywhere.

  2. Don’t ascribe to malice that which can be explained by incompetence.

One needs to suspend all credulity to explain this by incompetence. There is ZERO chance that this was not deliberate. None whatsoever. A fucking ten year old would have secured all of the high ground. They may not have known what to do beyond that, but that part is intuitive.

This is a botched deep state hit job. It couldn’t be more obvious if it were so labeled. Anyone who believes otherwise is delusional. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck and has feathers like a duck and webbed feel like a duck and a bill like a duck anyone who believes them when they tell you that you are looking at a hippopotamus is out of their fucking mind. They just are.

  3. Fuck DEI, it damn near got former President Trump killed yesterday. And fuck the left as well, I hate those bastards who foment violence in the name of protecting their power. And yes, I do believe that Donald Trump was divinely, supernaturally protected by God and his angels yesterday. I don’t know what else to say except the left has become totally unhinged and is evil and will do anything to keeps its power. God bless America and Donald Trump.

  4. Heroes in suits and shades. People are going to be promoted over this. Asses will be covered—in glory—and backs will be patted all around. And more ladies are on their way to PDT’s detail. Doubling down is all these people know.

  5. This is going to be interpreted wrong by some but I’m going to say it.

We have to remember that Trump is a former president. I would not expect a former president to get the same SS coverage as a current president. I believe it’s unrealistic to think that. The goal for a former president is to keep the man from being put into a hostage situation with the resultant demands and to keep him from getting kidnapped so that his knowledge cannot be tapped. If he’s killed, that knowledge dies with him.

Further, Trump is a courageous badass who has shown little concern for his safety. He holds outdoor rallies and he has no qualms with mingling with his supporters. That has just got to be the kind of behavior that is very concerning to the SS.

Was he assigned to the “A” team? Most assuredly not. By design? Absolutely.

We’ll never know what really went on leading up to the rally. Never. That won’t stop the pundits from conjecturing and conjecturing wildly.

The right person with the right equipment could take him out from a far, far longer distance. His activities, as a former president, are not planned far in advance with a team devoted to the security for that activity.

  6. I think that Juan Merchan had every intention of ordering Trump incarcerated immediately at his sentencing in September. I wonder what would happen if he actually did that now?

  7. Kimberly Cheatle would be DONE in a normal world.

Rumors are that she didn’t give the order to shoot the S.O.B. when they had eyes on him for 3 minutes prior to the first shot.

    20 years hard labor, minimum.

Go back to making sandwiches, bitch.

  8. It sickens me that President Trump was surrounded by dumpy, female Secret Service agents who were barely over five feet tall. They looked like they had no idea what to do and offered minimum protection to the president. It appeared that the male agents were having to tell them everything to do. This is what DEI looks like. I want the biggest, toughest, bad-ass men of action protecting Donald Trump. These little, ridiculous looking, pony-tailed DEI hires looked like the Keystone Cops during the whole incident. It’s proof that our government isn’t serious about protecting Trump.

  9. @Deplorable 2nd Class:

If Trump is taken out, what’s plan B ????

That depends on how you will react to the violence: participate in it, hide from it, or die from it.

    (I don’t actually believe that but I’m feeling a bit bloody-minded tonight)
